"Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran"
Had a greatest hits album of theirs on the other day and appreciated it a lot more then I did when they were in their prime. Really awesome band to be fair.
Ordinary World - Duran Duran |

Gizoogling the first verse of the Reflex:
You've gone too far dis time
And I be ridin' dirty on tha valentine
I rap some muthafuckaz foolin around
With mah chances on tha dark shiznit line
I be bout ta cross dat bridge when I find it
Another day
To make mah stand, oh oh
High time is no time fo' deciding
If I should find a helpin hand, oh oh

"Don't Leave Me This Way - The Communards "
As much as i like the Communards (and Smalltown Boy is one of the best lyrics/tracks ever) Harold Melvin was so much better
I'll chuck in some fine females from my youth
Transvision Vamp- Baby I don't care
The Primatives- Crash
Westworld- Sonic Boom Boy
also, some 50's/60's perfection
Dusty Springfield - The Look of Love
Louis Armstrong - We have all the time (by far the best Bond theme too)
Ben E King- Stand by me (i could write a thesis on the musical perfection of 'less is more' with the instrumentation of this piece of brilliance)
For now, as they say...That'll do pig! |

Well given my first choice (Embarassment) of their songs has gone
It Must Be Love - Madness
House Of Fun - Madness
Baggy Trousers - Madness
Given they were the biggest selling singles act of the 80s in the UK - no real surprise that they were pretty damned good at writing a decent 3 minute pop song |

not heard it for years, so no idea.
I will point out that if you listen to Stand by me back to back with George Michaels A Different Corner- they go fantasically well together... definitley some influence on Georgios from Mr King in the instumental simplicity to support the vocals, and i'm fairly sure the chord progression has some similarity...either way, both outstanding tracks in their own right |
