From my expansive knowledge of Welsh culture, based purely upon dating a girl from the valleys for a year, the welsh always call you lovely or butt. Hiya butt.....

Beyond the shadows.

I'm really bad at remembering names, mainly due to the profile/real name thing. But have never addressed someone as lovely

Craggy Island

Sweetie, sweetheart, Princess, I don't mind the odd pet name when you are in a full on relationship, but if you really can't remember person name you just need to apologize and try harder.

I've used "chicken" a few times when I wasn't really thinking and that was quite successful.

Well it could go either way. It's not a term I would use by choice.

Also tried "Petal" and "flower" out a couple of times.

I'm at the mental state now where I'll just grunt and point at the person I'm trying to refer to.

I've always used lovely as I find it more endearing than hun, babe, sugar, etc.

When I fancy someone, I make damn sure to remember their name

My defaults are love and mate. I have to deliberately stop myself using them.

If I fancy someone and I'm unsure the I won't use a name in case I get the wrong one as, as if I do it's all.

I've done the thing where I'm frantically looking at letters and mail to try and get some kind of verification on the womans name.

If your at the point where your in their house and you can't remember the name well I'm never asking again no matter how long I know them for.

I use it all the time, think it’s a West Country thing for me. It’s when I’m trying to be nice or to lighten a situation.
