I just started watching this last week on nf.... Can't believe I stumbled a cross it by accident....
It's actually really, really fucking beautiful, and very, very personal and prickly to me, having lost someone very special suddenly and unexpectedly a while back and being left with responsibilities and feeling utterly life fucked and lost
Humour and not giving a shit is the only way!!!!!
Love Ricky |

I watched a few episodes. I don't usually like Ricky Jervais but I like this..It's funny and sad at the same time.
It feels real too, which a lot of these series don't; they feel contrived. |

"I started watching it yesterday and it's making me a bit emotional but I do like it. "
I'm with you. It's pushing some of my buttons because I can relate, and I think it's brilliant. |

Watched it all in one sitting, really really good and very emotive on the subject of suicide.
Seems like people and obviously the film industry is takking note of the alarming suicide rate in this country of middle aged men in particular!
However, the ending could have been better imho.

I really really like Ricky Gervais as a stand up and a host, live his films and cameo's.
But his TV shows I just find too dark and sad.
Funny but sad also.
Honestly I have enough sadness in my head without him being there also. |

"I like Ricky, i like his social commentary. But i don't like being upset. So I'm in no rush to watch it. I enjoyed "humanity"."
It's happy and sad. It's worth it. |

I've just started watching it. I love Ricky Gervais stuff. He is very observant. Clearly a people watcher and such a good writer. Loved the office and Derek. |

If anyone has any links to mental health or sociology then they will love this program. The number of issues it address is very well done and they're rather subtle at times too, making the humour dark but still light enough to not be alienating. |

"Watched a couple of these. Really liked it due it’s nature I can’t binge watch as it goes a little dark.
I’m not a fan normally but this is ok. Anybody else watching? "
I’m currently half way through....after hearing good things about it being “brutal” and “hilarious”.....whilst I’m enjoying watching them I can’t help but feel it’s not exactly laugh out loud funny that I was told it was.
Much more I think is indeed the dark nature of the program not to mention the subliminal messages and the issues of deep depression and suicidal feelings one can feel when in the same or similar situations to the main character.
I know it’s only a tv show.....but still, well done to RG for it and putting it to public. Hopefully this one of the many steps that will help people discuss such issues instead of keeping it all in |

I think it's like a counselling session. At the start, empathy of those feeling like utter shit. Taking them on a journey.... |

Glad I managed to get around watching the first episode. I can so relate to the character Ricky plays, so many astute situations, thoughts and feelings I currently have. I’m very cautious with Ricky, hope his writing is done with his heart in the right place, actually emphasising with his characters and not slyly mocking them.
In this case it seems to be written with a whole heap of pathos, saving episode 2 for later |

Thanks, I’ve had a tough couple of years but starting to see better days, hopefully.
Facebook and other social media often makes it feel others are living their lives whilst your own is in limbo. So good comedy or drama reminds you that you’re not alone and as bad as you have it there are others in a worse way or equally feel low as you do.
The difference between me and Ricky’s character is I’m an optimist, sure things will get better and often they will |

I find the types of people who constantly post on Facebook and other social media are the saddest of all. They need outside verification and 'Likes' to make them feel better. The ones who post loved up pics are usually having affairs or getting divorced. They just want people to *think* they are happy.
You made me smile, thank you. |

Absolutely.
Reminds us to take stock and be thankful, yet allows us those angry moments, that frustration, and that despair at how cruel life can be.
