Took one of my kids swimming...

Ok, this sounds like it’s out of some sort of story book but it’s a genuine truth.

I’ve recently moved from London to Harrogate, it’s fantastic, loving it. In London I used to take my son swimming every Sunday and we both loved it, so I was keen to keep this enjoyment when we moved up north.

This morning we tried out a new swimming class and it was fantastic, but! It’s in a primary school, that’s fine so far. The changing rooms are split in to gender, fine. I use the male changing rooms and realise how small they are and also how much the other stuff doesn’t look like dads clothing... as I’m getting changed a woman walks in, apologises and leaves. I’m confused.

Anyway, get to the swimming lesson, have a look around, polite smiles, one other dad the rest women. One really hot one.

After the lesson, I head back to the male changing room to change my son and myself. And who is two children’s cubicles down from me? Hot mom. I’m confused. Both of us knowing this is the male changing room yet, women are using it.

Both of us change and it is awkward, as hot as she is I’m not going to try anything here or even comment.

Now, I’ve e-mailed the company, asking about the changing facilities acknowledging that there will be more mums than dads and I don’t mind changing elsewhere provided that it’s private (in a school here!) so that the mums have the space they need.

Everyone’s thoughts on this?

Until you hear back from the pool staff, I have no thoughts. The scenario is incomplete. There could be dozens of reasons why she was in there.

Were you definitely using the men's changing room?

Many swimming pools have mixed changing rooms.

Not sure why you feel the need to state you 'wouldn't try anything with the hot woman'.

If there is cubicles to change in then surely it shouldn't matter anyway? Our local pools have 1 shared changing area in most of them now which I personally prefer as it makes it easier for me and my partner when we take our children.

Northampton Somewhere

When I took my boys swimming when they were little they came in the ladies with me, up until the age of 9 maybe.

I've worked as a cleaner...

You sometimes get a scornful look from women expecting you to stop work and leave the room when they need the loo....

I was definitely in the men’s - being a school there were no doors on the cubicle doors. And the sides only come up to cover you just above your waist line.

The reason I stated I wouldn’t try anything is because I know the mindset of many people on here...

This isn’t a case of boys in women’s changing rooms to help get them changed. I think it a case of the female changing room being too busy and women using the men’s, probably because there’s rarely a man who uses them.

Think of it the other way round. If men started using a women changing room because theirs was too busy.

Fair points.

Sounds a crap set up. Bit unfair for both men and women if the doors are only waist high. Uncomfortable situation.

Does anyone else have anxiety dreams where suddenly you realise the public toilet you are using is exactly like this?

Sorry to derail op, I have nothing helpful to add to your thread.....
