There's a pub just down the road from me called The Royal Telegraph, back in ma biker days it was called The Telegraph, but inbetween it has been called St. Trinans and Struts. Why do some pubs change their names and others remain as they were? For example, you wouldn't rename the Cat and Fiddle as the George and Dragon |

There’s a pub in my hometown (Burnley) called The Royal Dyche after Sean Dyche. It used to be called the Princess Royal. The Bull and Butcher also was renamed to the Slaughtered Lamb, but the town was outraged and stopped going, it ended up closing down due to lack of customers over the issue and has never reopened. |

The old club I used to go to called Krazyhouse or The K as we used to call it. Its changed names now due to a 'revamp' so it's supposed to be Electric or some such garbage......we just called it the K still |

Yeah, I still tend to call pubs by the original names that I knew them as. I used to play darts and went to many different pubs over the years, I think it is mostly an inner city thing whereby changing name every couple of years or so has become fashionable. |

Pubs around this way tend to change names because they are either not doing well or have got a bad reputation for trouble, country pubs never seem to need to change names. |

Yeahhh the Prinny Royal. The landlady said that if Dyche ever got us into Europe she would rename it after him and he would drink for free. Funnily enough a chap went in called Sean Dyche with his driving license to prove it and she let him drink for free. |

Exactly, some seem to go with fashionable names and change with monotonous regularity. They never seem to have their own identity though. |

Pubs round here that change their name never last as the new name and always change back. Is it unlucky or something, it's happened lots to make it noticable. |

"Two pubs quite local to me have changed their names to "Costcutter" and "Abadala Indian Restaurant"
"
I once played Eric Bristow at darts in a pub that was called The George in Derby, that is sadly an Indian restaurant now |
