You can do it with regular photos, I used to experiment a while back. Basically 3D cross eye images, google them.
People can either see them or they can't, bit like those colour blind tests. But trust me when you can see them they're awesome! |

I've just uploaded a demo pic of a 3D cross eye on my gallery. It looks like two pictures side by side almost identical.
Trick is to look at the centre of the picture, and then slowly cross your eyes until both pics overlap, suddenly it'll "snap" into focus 
It's not quite a cock jumping out at you, but it does look very real! |
