I like a soft Welsh or Geordie accent. Not so keen on Bristolian, although it does remind me of The Vicar of Dibley, so still brings a smile to my face.. |

Just been speaking to a cockney Londoner for about 2 hours. He has a nice accent!
My favourite type of accent is a military accent. It’s kind of posh but it’s quite a distinctive one, can’t really tell where the person originates from. |

I'm guessing you mean officer, rather than your standard infantry. |

There are some very well spoken soldiers (rather than officers) out there. |

"Apparently call centres like to be bases in the north east as people are more likely to receive their accents as being warm and friendly. Welsh and geordie "

"I always feel disappointed when a beautiful woman opens her mouth and a scouse accent comes out."
even though i’m from Liverpool, i have to agree, hate the accent, Northern Scouse accent is the worst though, back in the 60 the scouse accent had a nice charm to it, bloody awful now though.
I do like the cornish accent though. |

I like a Geordie accent from a woman, not so much from a man. I also like the softer Scottish accents too."

"I despise Brummie and Black Country accents.
Adore Welsh accents. Hearing Cerys Matthews talk on Radio 6 does wonderful things to me. "
Thats funny...Tamworth being full of the people that Brum didn't want in the 60s/70s... |

Trying to figure out accents and place where someone is from is fun. There aren't any that I actively dislike, but there are a few that give my the fanny gallops. A highland accent is mega hot |

I’d say I’m well spoken southern as opposed to the Chelsea ....
Absolutely not condescending or fake - just a huge fat bird who was brought up in south London by a non condescending mum who liked us to pronounce our words correctly |

Well spoken southern is fine - it’s the “Chelsea” that does nothing for me. |

"I love a south London accent.
Proper South London? Like all ‘cor blimey, geezer?’
Are you saying I’m not ‘proper’ south London?? "
You tell me?!
I’m not suggesting you don’t love a ‘right good tear up’ as much as the next South Londoner...
It’s all apples and pears at the end of the day |

I'm not a fan of some of the North Wales accents.
I've often wondered what causes accents.. It's strange how peoples voices sound different, just because they're living in different parts of the country |

I don't like daggernam type accents. I let scousers off for just being lazy.
As a northern person I often feel like pulling out a dictionary and making the southerners learn English.
Southerners are selectively ignorant of correct English.
"H" pohoneticly is pronounced "ache" (Oxford dictionary)
There are a few other examples. The estury types pretend to be from London people are annoying because in my experience they mock Lancashire accent.

"Having recently moved to Cheshire, with my soft spoken southern Irish accent, some particular words are funny they way they are pronounced .... such as “but” ! "
I lived in Cheshire for a few years (spent most of my week there)
It's a really wierd culture of calling people "duck" I was honestly confused by. First time someone called me "duck" I didn't know if it was an insult.
I am familiar with Lancashire and Yorkshire but I feel disorientated in flat places like Cheshire. Everything is built on hills in Yorkshire and Lancashire. All the towns circling Manchester and Leeds are built on small hills. If I go to flat places it doesn't feel right and I don't feel as safe. |
