What random stranger has had the biggest impact on your life?

A forumite on here, without her I wouldn’t have met doughnut and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, this complete stranger changed my life, like 100% changed it all because she is a lovely, caring lady.

That’s lovely.

Is she still here? Does she know? Can you give a shout out?

The surgeon who operated on my daughter at 3 months old. I could hug that man every day.

A lovely guy called Anthony at the Samaritans. At a time of utter dispair here was this lovely guy at the end of the phone who didn’t know me from Adam and was just the kindest most generous listening soul that I needed right then.

I’m not one for evangelising, but if you’re ever really struggling and think no one cares or that there’s not a great deal of point to your life - speak up. Talk to someone. Anyone. xx

Manchester (she/her)

Not a stranger anymore, but when I landed in hospital almost immediately after joining Fab, this guy I was planning to meet, who I barely knew, took heaps of time to help me cope when I otherwise would have been alone. Step by step he's helped me with my confidence and all sorts of things. I'm a changed woman, the woman I always wanted to be.

You're all perfect strangers to me for now until I find "The perfect stranger" you're the only people I can have a conversation with without being blocked, ignored, harassed or made to feel worthless.

Somewhere near here

A woman in The Gambia carrying her child in a wrap. I literally watched her from afar whilst waiting for a boat. She completely changed my life, my outlook, the way I raise my children, people I have helped in voluntary work and now the career I’m embarking. And she will never know.

I remember the thread that you two got together on.

For me it would have been my health visitor after my son was born. I was having a hard time with a baby suffering from colic.

She gave me loads of support, even taking extra courses to be able to help me in ways of soothing him.

Was working my arse off 60 - 70 hour weeks, cared more about making money and had no time for anything else. One time 8 years ago when I was ill I was waiting for physio with another gentleman. We chatted and his entire outlook on life changed my priorities, in one conversation. We stayed sporadically in touch and I found out last year he died. The thing was I knew if he could say one last thing to me he would say his life was 'worth it'

If a stranger has impacted on my life then they are no longer a stranger.

To go back to the question, the Nurse who gave up her lunch break for me when my Mum died, and I had no one with me.
