The porn pedaling cycling club one of the fastest growing amateur cycling clubs in the UK with over 100 members lost its license today
The UCI regulation says pornographic products, along with tobacco or spirits, that "might damage the image of the UCI or of cycling in general" cannot be associated "directly or indirectly" with a licence-holder, team or a national or international cycling competition."
The cycling club raises money for Sexial health charities. British cycling states it can be registered so long as it changes it's name and sponsor.
What's peoples opinion on this an overreaction or right decision to protect the image of the sport and sponsors? |

I personally think it’s disgusting. They weren’t advertising porn (ok they were sponsored by a softcore channel, but that’s different), they were using their initials and not a full name and the whole reason for their existence is to raise money for charity. Why should they be discriminated against because of their legal professions? |

Neither do I, I just read about it in the Daily Mail earlier today. |

The very little bit I know about cycling includes the fact that the sport is trying to promote a "clean" image after certain controversies. In my mind promoting sexual health charities is a good thing to be doing but porn pedallers is an ambiguous name that has certain connotations, I would just have asked them to change it and keep up the good work. |
