Do you ever sit there, reading through a thread, find a post you want to reply to (usually in disagreement) word out an fairly detailed response and just before you click to post it you decide not to because you can't be bothered with the can of worms that will be opened?
Let's see how many people don't reply to this because of forum hesitation |

Absolutely. I didn't post on these forums for months cause I didn't think anybody would really care about my opinion. That's changed though and I don't shut up now after taking the plunge! |

"No. I always write what I think. And sometimes end up with 24, 48 or 72 hour ban
^ this.
Sometimes the ban is so worth the freedom of speech "
Indeed. It's not my problem if some people cannot handle the truth. It is quite amusing when given a timeout, like a naughty kid put on a naughty step or having sweets taken away for 3 days |

I had a ban once for 'bullying'. I was completely gobsmacked because my 'comment was just this emoji
It was in response to a TV saying he was very convincing and nobody ever stared when he went out dressed in public. I thought he was joking, hence my response. Turns out he wasn't
I did pm and apologise though as I would never deliberately be unkind. |

Yes, a fair amount. It also depends on what I'm writing and what frame of mind I'm in.
As you say though, sometimes I just think "what's the point", it's highly unlikely that even the most reasoned argument will change someone's stance. |

That is kind of my way about it. I don't shy away from speaking up or offering my opinion but I notice a losing battle (not that I'm right/wrong) but no amount of logic, or detailed explanation will ever change the view point or stance of the targeted party. |

I do hesitate quite a bit, 99% of the time our threads get ignored anyway so sometimes we see something and sometimes we will comment and then see loads of replies to everyone else and not us. we see threads and see who the posters are and think fuck it there isn’t any point!.
Sometimes if we feel strongly about a subject we will comment regardless, swings and roundabouts really. We aren’t phased by it anymore to be honest lol.

Yeah this. So often I type out a reply. Then change my mind deciding it's not worth the heartache when I get nonsense in reply.
Same with Facebook or Twitter (mostly. Had an amazingly amusing exchange yesterday that livened up my lunchtime but that's because every reply I got was more conspiracy theory nonsense then the last...) |

"Sometimes. But i think it's more because i can't be arsed to get into an in depth debate with someone. Far too time consuming "
Better time management is the answer there. I have alloted times during the day;
8-8.45 - argue with strangers
1-1.30 - vent my spleen
6-7 - chess with pigeons
I find it's very useful |

There and to the left a bit |
I don't often delete or even edit what I say - when I do it's usually because I've taken so long to type out a point that the point has already been made (and usually more succinctly) or the thread has changed tangent since I started typing.
I'll occasionally delete because I think life's too short and it's not worth getting into an argument - sometimes, especially with particularly opinionated posters, it's a question of picking your battles and it not being worth wasting your breath - although like Saffron I do think when someone is way off the mark with an opinion that leaving it uncountered is as good as agreeing with them. |

If I want to reply to a post I Will, if I don't post it's because I'm not that interested enough to spend time typing.
I haven't been on here cor a long time but when I was posting regularly I always posted my opinion regardless but never had a forum ban because you don't need to be rude to state your opinion. |

I type then delete. Sometimes a thread is set up to goad people and it’s just pointless. Sometimes people are spoiling for a fight, I’m not interested in being part of that so I don’t bother. I’m sure I’m not missing out on anything either |

I do this too. I'm also guilty though of sometimes seeing a thread and thinking of a post but, in trying to write it off quickly, it ends up littered with spelling mistakes and then I have to send another one to correct it and then because I was rushing it ends up fucked up so I "remove post" which then puts another entry for me on the thread and then any credibility I might of had is well and truly gone |

I’ve changed over time the way I post.
I try not to reply in haste, give myself time to word a response in a way that’s not going to end up in a slanging match and a timeout.
I say what I think but I’m not good with confrontation and try and steer clear of drama lamas
Occasionally I go at it full steam ahead if someone has pressed my buttons & I think I’m right, however I’m happy to admit when I get it wrong.

I don't hesitate, but only on occasions I find myself needing to be a little assertive. Generally I just share my thoughts/opinions and tell the truth. Some of the well known forumites don't like it, but that has never stopped me. |
