Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't usually start diet threads. I'm healthy, I know why I'm fat and I'm generally happy with my shape. However, I want to keep my splendid and large wardrobe.

It's been 9 weeks and I've only managed to lose 6lbs. Great, it's a loss. Yet, I look exactly the same and nothing is looser.

Throw some encouragement my way, please. I'm about to go on holiday and will succumb to a Devon Cream Tea and maybe an ice cream.

Been on a sugar free diet for 3 weeks? I've lost loads. Just cut it out of everything. But... do it in stages! I cut it out completely from day one and it messes with you in ways that are scary although quite enjoyable! I go by the moto if you're on a diet don't buy it! Hope the cream tea and ice cream is nice mind.

Pfffft you're joking? You're not fat your fabulous.....

If its worrying you that much eat less exercise more....

I've lost 6 stone .. 17 from 23 stone by diet alone .. it's took a long time.

Cut potatoes and starchy products and eat more veg and proteins ... And cut what you eat... Say if you were having 3 meals try and cut it to 2 .. cut your portions or eat only when you really feel hungry.

You can do it! One choice at a time, as long as most of the choices fit your goals.

My scale is heading downward, too. So far, not one wobble, just not that hungry and not that bothered by food (I'm eating enough).

You can do this. Don’t feel guilty if you fall off the wagon. You can get back on it.

Slow weight loss is frustrating and not seeing the difference even moreso. I’ve lost only 2.5 stone in the last 2 years but I’ve kept it off and still losing slowly. I’m miles fitter too.

The motivation is found in making yourself proud. Each lb lost is one lb closer to a goal.

I'm having no more 1,000 calories a day during the week and 1,500 at the weekend (apart from at the STP or tomorrow, as it's a very special day).

I'm not hungry or unhappy but I do crave a tuna mayo baguette and cake.

I think it will take more than gaining weight for me to look like you. I'm not planning reassignment surgery.

Congratulations on your loss. If I lost that much I would be underweight and scrawny. I only want to lose what I gained after my mother died.

A lot of fat is stored around your internal organs and is known as Visceral Fat. It’s fat you can’t see. So your weight loss may be visceral fat.

Thank you for the compliments but I really am fat. Lifting the boobs with a decent bra provides good proportions and I have a fabulous wardrobe.

Not enough. I know. I walk a lot and can run for the bus without strain. Although my running is slower than my walking.

I lost 4.5st some years ago now & found around a stone equates to a dress size. I couldn't see or feel the weight coming off either (although the scales said otherwise) until people started commenting (about a stone in). Little things can make a difference, it sounds silly but buying smaller plates really helped with my portion control. A lot of it is psychological, your brain sees a full plate, not a smaller one. I had to train myself to eat only when I was hungry & stop when I was full, that was hard after growing up being told we had to always clear our plates, waste not, want not. You can do it, if you have a bad day just start again the next.

Cardiovascular exercise will help you reach your goals, the kind of sustained exercise that leaves you breathless.

My current weight loss is slow but I think that’s to do with age & hormones, it’s slowing everything down!

As mentioned yesterday I’m trying to up my walking level and tbh when I do to a consistent level I think it really helps..

Congratulations.

I'm not denying myself things, just managing when I eat and portions to reduce the calories going in. Giving things up only leads to me wanting them. No day is treated as a bad day, just a day that needs balancing out with a lower calorie day.

Thanks for the tip on the dress size. Another 8lbs and my clothes will loosen. That's another 3 months away.

I did wonder if my age and being post menopausal might be playing into the slowness of all of this.

Keep going, Roxi.

I don't think you've done too bad with 6lbs over 9 weeks. I never seem to lose weight quickly and when dieting I usually lose 1/2 lb a week which is so disheartening.

I try to look at, what can I improve, rather than take away. Whether that's improving my performance in the gym or increasing the amount of vegetables I eat. Other stuff gets bumped out of the way when I add good things.

Well done on the 6lbs. I managed to lose about 2 stone 9 years ago and from my body shape it was a quite a while into the weight loss before I saw any drop in clothes size, but it was pretty dramatic though and coincided with an increase in confidence and meant I wore more fitting clothes.

Ive put a good part of the weight back on over the years as I've stopped doing all the good things that helped shift it, but started back at gym today and plan on making some effort to get into shape.
