Cancer is linked to just about everything cancer is a man made illness and there is cures for it to but the government would rather not give it out witch is kind of silly because they must spend thousands on radiotherapy and chemotherapy but sometimes that doesn’t cure a person it makes them more ill; my mum had thirst cancer luckily the radiation workerd for her but it doesn’t always. I’ve heard cannabis is the best cure

I’ve heard this said and know someone who survived cancer by changing their diet dramatically - high veg and no red meat and also taking cannabis oil. They said they removed sugar entirely apart from that which is naturally occuring. I don’t know where they got that from but I’ve heard it again since. I’ve not seen any studies into this though so couldn’t say if it’s got any truth to it. |

I shall remove myself from this thread as probably one of the few here that actually visit research labs, know research teams and read internal published reports on research outcomes.
It's not a simple topic and there is no singular answer as every cancer is different as is every sub type within each field. |

Lots of people believe that cancer is a modern disease or "man made" for a sinister reason. There's evidence that its existed since early prehistoric times so that isn't true.
There's a lot of research going in to what causes it. Sugar might be a contributory factor but so is smoking and many other things. |

"It’s in the interests of the large pharmaceutical companies to not cure cancer , I’m probably jaded but that’s what I believe . "
Exactly this. There will never be cures for cancer. There may be ways that we'll be able to 'live with it'. Much the same as HIV, there's never going to be a cure, the money is in the medicine to help you live with it. People wth HIV have a much longer prognosis for life expectancy thanks to a cocktail of drugs. Cancer will follow suit in the next 25 years. |

Oh, and if I were to listen to every expert that said 'this is linked to cancer' or 'that is linked to cancer', I'd be living as a hermit in cave, eating dust and gruel. That is until an expert says gruel is linked to cancer. |

I saw an article where some specialists said most cancers were down to bad luck. The cells decide to mutate all of their own accord.
I'm still eat food that is supposed to help our bodies stave off cancer, and I try to eat healthy food.

This is about it to my knowledge.
Mutations occur for various reasons, certain things increase the opportunity for mutations to happen, smoking, burnt food, radiation, etc etc, the list is endless.
I’m sure we all know a story of someone who smoked 40 a day and lived to be 100 and in the same breath someone that lived a clean life and passed to young.
Luck of the drawer really. |

My mum smoked like a trooper since she was 14 and lived to almost 87, without ever being hospitalised or seriously ill previously.
I think my weight will kill me if I don't do something about it.

"We all have cancer cells in our body ,anything can trigger it but smoking is the main trigger ..
We all have mutated cells, which in some cases become cancer. "
A family member has terminal lung cancer, non smokers. She has the alk gene which has mutated with another gene. She changed her diet and is vegan, she was advised to avoid sugar. She is on a fantastic new drug, the cancer had spread all over her body. At her last scan, there was no evidence of cancer |

Cancer is not new... however, because we are generally living much longer there are more people getting the disease.
Cells are continually being created and each time this happens a mutation can occur. Mutations can lead to cancer. Consequently the risk of cancer increases as you age.
Some people are more likely to get cancer due to lifestyle or genetics.
Modern medicine also means it is identified more readily.
Trying to eat well and keep fit simply reduces your odds.

It’s kinda weird that fresh fruit , vegetables , nuts , whole grains , beans ( other than soya beans when breast cancer is already present ) , pulses and seeds have never been linked to cancer .
It’s hardly surprising that most of the things linked to cancer ( sugar , smoking , aluminum , fatty food , red meat , alcohol , various chemicals and additives ) are actually obviously not going to be good for us . So why is it surprising that these things cause cancer ? |

The guy who came up with GCMaf got banged up in jail recently.
Under the 1939 Cancer Act, it is illegal for anyone to claim publicly they have a cancer cure and advertise such - even if it's a proven highly effective cure, as is GcMaf.
David Noakes is in for 15 months, though the MHRA screamed for the maximum sentence possible, 8 years.
The 1939 Cancer Act is supposedly to protect people suffering from charlatans trying to fleece them with such like magic crystals or other fakery. This is the official line.
In reality, if you manage to create an effective cure, administer it to people and save lives, you will be persecuted and jailed. That's nice.
"Notorious Noakes Jailed!" screams a headline. Amazingly this isn't a gutter tabloid headline, but it's actually on a gov.uk page.
Looking into this matter, it's quite obvious what is actually going on, and Noakes has been jailed for having the audacity to contribute to saving lives, and challenging the establishment - and their revenue stream.
The official line is "We can cut you (surgery), We can burn you (radiotherapy), or we can poison you (chemo)." And we would like to keep it that way thank you very much.
All you will be able to find against GcMaf is very minor side effects in a few cases (nothing compared to the side effects of the cut, burn or poison method) and that its engineered from blood. So of course, it's portrayed as though it's some sort of Frankenstein experiment.
Thought I really needed to bring this up since the more people are aware, the better it is for everyone and the more pressure gets put on the real bad guys.

Where are all the people that that normally say ‘I don’t see why I should have sugar reduced in my food because others can’t control themselves’ on practically every thread about weight/size/shape?
This is what they put in your food in massive, unnecessary quantities. People become so focused on weight they seem to forget (mostly because it’s convenient to) that anyone and everyone can be affected by issues arising from food ingredients. |

The liver does not metabolize alcohol into sugar. On the contrary, most people will experience a dip in their blood sugar (glucose) levels when consuming alcohol. Alcohol is eventually broken down by the liver into acetate, and finally into carbon dioxide and water---not sugar. |

If only they put the contents of food on packets.
maybe even a % of some kind of guide line daily amount for fat and sugar.
Heck really dumb it down not only the above but also a red amber green traffic light system for the really dense....
Wait they do dont they?

My mum had throat cancer ffs"
So have I got it too,
Problem here is too many people listening or reading hypothetical theories of what is causing cancer, what is good to prevent cancer or treat cancer..
Truth is they still don’t know, my cancer is diagnosed in 4 people on average every week in the U.K. 3 of these are normally men, there seems to be some link to HPV but no guarantee that this causes it, stress, smoking and alcohol also are linked to throat cancer!
I don’t smoke and drink little ...
Regarding HPV this can be transmitted by touch skin on skin and is not sexually transmitted, 70% of adults in the U.K. will get this virus at some point.
Op mentions sugar, there is natural sugar in lots of things we eat such as fruit
Since being diagnosed no one person has told me to avoid sugar!
So I can’t see this being true asthings stand
However, many theories (again internet bound)
Are around suggesting this..
So in response to the original question
There are theories to links, but no evidence suggests this is true, look up swallows U.K. they are a head and neck cancer support group, they would verify my points!!

Almost everything in life has a link. Sex, sugar, sweeteners, milk, meat, smoking, processed foods, alcohol, the air we breathe, radiation, the products we use on our body, the products we use in our home. Frankly life is for living. If it's going to get me it's going to get me but at least I know I've enjoyed the years that I have lived.
He's to my morning cup of coffee with milk and sweetener.

And my evening gin
I'm also going out in my car at some point too... Shock horror |

Have to say you've lost me there.
The original post was about sugar being linked to cancer. I made the, 'tongue in cheek', point that there is unlikely to be any significant number of people here qualified to have the required knowledge to comment in a meaningful way.
There are currently around 376 Consultant oncologists and 280 Registrars in England; lets be generous and call it 1000 in total in the UK
Lets add another 1000 academics, researchers etc who may have sufficient in depth knowledge on this.
The UK has a population around 67M and about 20% are Children. So lets say there are 50M adults
Assuming the distrubution here is similar to the general population; if 25000 people regulary use the forums (unlikely) according to my calculations there would be roughly 1 person qualified to give an authorative answer.
Even if my calculations are way out. You should be getting my drift by now |

I’d go with more that our modern lifestyle has led to way increased cancer rates, and the ridiculous amounts of sugar people eat now is one factor within this.
I’ve read about all the ‘starve cancer through cutting sugar’ things and there may well be something in it as I know that sugar (and all carbs) is not good for me at all, so I cut it out.
I guess we’ll see if that means I’m one of the one in two that won’t get it rather than will but I like to think I’ve given myself a fighting chance.

I've always hated shugar.
It comes from childhood because my dad eats so much shit during the day he neglects meal times or other people's need for propper meals.
I always though it denied me the callories I needed to learn and exercise.
Sometimes lethagic in school or quit playing certain sports due to headaches.
If (like my dad) you eat chocolate/liquice and fizzy drinks it totals up and spoils appetite for real food.
If your a marine or athlete who doesn't stop it's irrelivant.
But most people won't burn over 1000 callory in exercise per day and the shit diet is like a gradual death.
It doesn't go anywhere. Being in transit, working and traveling in forces to eat shit like McDonald's.
It's not actually more tastey than fresh vegetables and meat....shugar is for peasants to use as appetite sepressant.
The steaks in supermarkets are small and expensive but it's worth the money.

Exactly. Having cells causes cancer, end of.
We know what is likely to be carcinogenic though. Asbestos is almost always found in Mesothelioma for example.
Risks, on the other hand, means that there's no proof whatsoever but all the people with these cancers tend to have the same habits or have come into the same pollutants asothers with the same cancer. |

"Where are all the people that that normally say ‘I don’t see why I should have sugar reduced in my food because others can’t control themselves’ on practically every thread about weight/size/shape?
This is what they put in your food in massive, unnecessary quantities. People become so focused on weight they seem to forget (mostly because it’s convenient to) that anyone and everyone can be affected by issues arising from food ingredients.
If only they put the contents of food on packets.
maybe even a % of some kind of guide line daily amount for fat and sugar.
Heck really dumb it down not only the above but also a red amber green traffic light system for the really dense....
Wait they do dont they?
Blaming sugar in ready meals is kinda like saying it wasnt your fault you got d*unk because the whiskey you drank was 40% not 4%.

No it isn’t Carter. You’re wrong. I’m not blaming sugar in ready meals I’m blaming food manufacturers for putting crap in our food, which they do. I am right about that. Crap that we don’t need actually and we wouldn’t miss it if it wasn’t there.
As far as labelling goes ... and I really don’t think there was any need to be facetious, it is misleading at best as anyone with an ounce of sense knows. That’s why people complain so much about it and whilst supermarkets etc continue to try to get away with certain food descriptions and fat/sugar content, then food labelling will continue to be poor and misleading at best. |

Depends on the cancer.
My nan's breast cancer was due to a trauma, so was mine.
Some cancers are caused by hazardous substances, they usually have a carcinogenic sign on them.
Some could be linked to sugar I suppose. |

What crap?
Everything is detailed and labled.
Sugars fats and salts are labelled, red flagged on the front.
Daily rdas are provided for men and women and % figures if how the product fits in.
In terms of macro nutrients all thats required from the shopper is the ability to add up to 100.
Peoples stupidity and lazyness is the problem not packaging |

Sugar only became widely available in the 18th century, which is the blink of an eye ago in terms of human development.
So it's a very, very recent introduction to our diet. And in a very, very short space of time we have started consuming vast quantities of the stuff.
So I would not be surprised if the evidence now exists of its harmful effects.

I think people over eating doesn't help. Human beings are evolved for periods of intermittent fasting. A short term fast every week helps cells go into maintaince mode rather than multiping and therefore the amount of 'abnormal' cells with it. Also keep diet 'clean' |
