So I goes on this morning for a wander and in the friend suggestion list where you scroll right there are people I’ve messaged on here only! How does it know? Is it just guessing and derby and Nottingham aren’t that small or is there something snooping? Anyone else had this |

Your ‘suggested friends’ is people who have looked at your Facebook. Which is why sometimes people with no mutual friends are suggested for you.
My senior at work likes to look at my profile every other day - luckily my Facebook is very private and nothing is public
So if you gave them your name (even your first name) then they can probably find you. You can type in a first name and an area (I.e Dunfermline) and it’ll show all the folk with that name from Dunfermline. All they would have to do is scroll down and find ya. |

"Only ever messaged her on here and no numbers were exchanged, fab was the only contact, is it just sheer coincidence though, I think it’s a bit odd "
Does she know your first name or have you used any of the same pictures on here and facebook? |

So if she comes up on my suggestions does that mean she’s already looked at my profile or is it just some random algorithm, I don’t get it, my fab is like totally separate from anything else I do, I use Twitter instagram and snapchat too but never the same photos or anything, I am alarmed is the best way of putting it |

I don't think so. I get all sorts of friend suggestions and I'm pretty sure they have no idea who I am. Sometimes its friends of friends. Its probably coincidence
Make sure your facebook page is locked tight in terms of privacy |

And there I was, considering myself tech savvy and knowledgeable and all that, I have been quiet on Facebook for a while as it’s all rubbish and brexit and Tommy whatshisface spouting racist and people posting ‘inspirational’ quotes whilst probably sat at home in their pjs watching jezza, so I stay off it and now doubly so |

It works kinda the same way as when you search for something online, for example doughnut was looking at trainers once and all of his feed had adverts for trainers...I tell you something scares the shit out of you when you get lube ads appear
