Yeah all of the above I liked too particularly The Thing, Christine. The other half isn't good with horrors. I'm the exception of course
Not heard of 'The Orpahange' will check that out.
Honeypot, in all honesty I prefer the spooky ones too.
One of the all time faves is The Others.

I love horror films, I have a huge collection, but none actually scare me.
Recently watched Doll Master which is a Tartan Horror, so Asian and subtitled, but an excellent film.
I also love Guillermo Del Toro's films, he does spooky horror very well, without relying on blood and gore to captivate his audience.
I too am looking forward to The Woman in Black. Although I doubt it will be as spooky as the theatre play, or the book, as it is only a 12 rated film. |

I prefer the spooky / ghost type films rather than the blood and guts variety.
Paranormal Activity really scared me, just seeing things like opening and closing doors etc really scare me.
The Exorcist terrified me and I didn't sleep for a week when I first saw it. Visually was very scary but combined with the religious references, a child talking with a mans voice, it was really horrible.
I was scared with the Blair Witch Project too |

The original REC (spanish version) is quite thrilling (subtitled though) & it will definatly make you jump. (The authorities quarentine a building with residents & group of firemen still inside...followed by a camera crew)...
ooooh & i still love Jeepers Creepers. first hour really did the frighteners on me. |

"I love the old black & White ones, you can't beat them, but if I had to pick an up to date one, it would have to be Dog Soldiers "

I haven't watched a "good" horror film for a long time. I used to watch them a lot in the 80's - Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, the Evil Dead etc. A friend and I would wait till my family had gone to bed and then watch them.....funniest thing ever was one night when we were watching, sitting together on the sofa, both with cushions clasped in front of us...when suddenly there was a rap-rap-rap on the lounge window behind us......we must have jumped a bloody mile. 'Twas my dad...leaning out of his bedroom window with a long stick....his idea of a joke! Scared the shit out of us |
