Hi,
Need some advise.
I have an Audi S3 8L on a 2002 reg.
Earlier this morning I driving my car with no trouble selecting gears or any weird noises from the gearbox or any way to feelings through the clutch pedal.
Half an hour ago I started the car went to select first and the clutch pedal stayed on the floor, I initially thought it was low brake and clutch fluid so I topped it up and the pedal raised slightly off the floor.
I'm able to select gears if I use my foot to pull the clutch up off the floor but I've noticed on every 5th or 6th gear change the pedal will stick to the floor again and I'll have to use my foot to pull it up.
Can anyone advise what the issue is.
Thanks J |

If you can drive it, take it to a garage. It sounds to me that you could have a hydraulic leak but I'd get it properly looked at.

"Well it's hard to know without looking at the car, but few questions, did it take much brake fluid? When the pedal is up properly, does it bite in the normal place?
"
It took about a quarter of a litre to get it up to the maximum line and it bites in the normal place |

"The issue seems to be a clutchy clutch
Really hoping it's not the clutch as that was only changed less than 500 Miles ago "
I'm not a mechanic...but if your clutch is sticking then it's broken |

Most likely is you have leak from master or slave cyl
If job done correctly, slave should have been changed ,
For the amount of fluid loss the whereabouts of the leak should be obvious , usually a drip from bell housing

"Could be either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder on the clutch"
That'd be my guess too. Not sure if the S3 uses an external or concentric slave cylinder so it'll be hard to advise/diagnose any further. |

If it’s been recently tinkered with I’d certainly be homing in on that |

Can I jump on this thread and ask if there’s anyone here familiar with the new smart key that cars have?
I recently bought an Evoque and after an unfortunate incident (someone tried to steal it) my key is no longer recognised. I can unlock and lock the car but it doesn’t start unless I place the key under dashboard.
Help?

Sounds like your key has been partially be activated so basically you need to go back to the main dealership so they can reprogram your car and key |

Yeah I think that’s what’s happened too. Got an appointment next week Friday to get it sorted. It’s just drama man.
Hopefully, you get your car sorted too.

The slave cylinder should of been replaced when you had the new clutch fit.
It’s a internal slave on tour S3osg and it’s a 10.5hr job with it been 4 wheel drive not a fun job to do at home.
Just saying |

If you meant dsg rather than osg, then it's irrelevant to the OP as he has a manual car.
If it had an eccentric slave cylinder, if agree, it's good practice to replace at the same time as the clutch as it's a gearbox off job, but if it's an external slave cylinder (as it sounds to be) it's not too bad a job to do. |

Audi S3 2002 most defiantly has a concentric slave cylinder I have changed plenty of them.
As you said the clutch has been changed recently so I would be Contacting who got it to see if they replaced the slave cylinder |

Master cylinder hallmarks and if they are anything like the VW boras and mk4 golfs, they are a bit of a bitch to do.
Pedal staying to the floor and not returning sounds very much like a master cylinder issue. Done a few if them in my time.
Decent Parts can be purchased at Euro Car parts. Save yourself a bob or two |

"Am getting my baby booked in this weekend an going to be giving some Hell over this.
"
Not strictly necessary to give hell- could’ve been a faulty new part which isn’t unheard of - or just needs fettling.
One of the reasons i left the industry recently was unreasonable customers-
One job we did recently was utterly spot on bodywork wise.
Perfect colour match, shade and metallic match with no inperfections which can be difficult yet he kept saying it was out but couldn’t elaborate.
I had to walk away as personally I thought we well undercharged and he was being arkward.
Just maybe explain the faults and give them a chance |
