I admire my mum, back in September she had a nasty fall and was in hospital for two months, she got a nasty infection and to be honest I thought we were going to lose her at one stage. She didn’t get her hip done until about 5 weeks after the fall due to it and came home from hospital bed bound and I never thought she would walk again, in the last few weeks she has stood up with her frame and the aid of her chair that raises and stood for longer and longer periods and just last week she tried no hands, when I saw her do it with me standing next to her I though i’d admire her so much.
We all thought she would give up tbh but she set herself a goal to take my brother on holiday in a few weeks, even if she can manage to get into her wheelchair to the car, for that she’s my little hero (I said aim for May as it’s my brothers 50th birthday but she said no! I’m going for March!’.
Love that old lady so much!

"Nurses, those that put others first." If you can get hold of a book called wounded by Emily Mayhew the selflessness in the book will blow your mind. Beautiful acts run throughout.

"I was thinking just now about people who scale high places without ropes."
See that’s an odd one because when I see people doing that I just think they’re stupid .
I admire selfless people who do good and don’t expect any reward . |

My children x One is severely autistic and so amazing, she does get extremely agitated as the world doesn’t always make sense, but she shows true courage as she encounters things. My youngest is simply amazing. She is her sister champion, intelligent and empathetic x My mum and Mr, mainly because they put up with me, and so far hasn’t killed me, haha xx |

There have been a few people I've met over the years that are just good at life.
They appear to be relaxed and happy.
I don't know anyone who is like that as a close friend - maybe it's a facade -or maybe the people who have it genuinely sorted just aren't friend's with the likes of me |

Thank you Danish x There’s a massive age gap as my ex and myself were terrified of it happening again, and then we were terrified of not having an autistic child as we weren’t sure how we’d cope. It was all we knew. But they complete each other. My oldest has taught my youngest tolerance and kindness, and my youngest has taught my oldest to share- the little madam steals sweets from their treat drawer, but gives one to my youngest so I can’t say she can’t have one, haha xx
They both taught me strength, as I gave up my career, so I could leave an unhappy marriage, to be a single mum to them. I realised I was a good mum, thanks to them xx

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in all the popularity BS and lamppost pissing around here. This thread has reminded me of the wonderful journeys of strength that many, if not all of us, go through to be the amazing people that we are. |

I admire:
1. My parents.
2. My current Prime Minister. Actually he was our PM back in the 80s and 90s, re-elected again to become the oldest PM in the world now. Most westerners dislike him though.

I’m currently admiring the determination, locality and courage of David Challen who has campaigned on behalf of his mum Sally Challen to have her voice be heard.
Truly frightening are the layers of domestic abuse...

"I was thinking just now about people who scale high places without ropes.
Alex Honnold? Alain Robert.
Did you see Alex scale el capitan without ropes" I'm no expert I was just thinking about climbers who climb without ropes then I remembered the little french guy Alain (whatshisname) so I googled it. Remenber seeing him on TV climbing a building in the US and at other times seeing other people climbing free on TV. Always admired the bravery involved as I'm no lover of heights. I googled Alex Honnold as the name rang a bell. |

He do things what he thought best for the country rather than for himself.
And he's very outspoken especially to the leaders of the west. Thatcher, Keating, Mr Clinton were some of the leaders who were irritated by his views. |

In seriousness, the people I look up to tend to be in my life. Those who put a smile on their face, despite past and present struggles. Who keep going, when obstacles are put in their place. They become hurdlers. Sometimes they fall, but they are able to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and still have a positive attitude that somehow things will be okay. Those are the people I admire the most and aspire to be |

My greatest respect goes to all RNLI crews.
They go out to sea in all weathers and all conditions to save those in need. They don't get paid and ask for nothing in return.
After each "shout" they then go quietly back to their jobs and families after the boat is cleaned (takes 2 hours).
True men and women. |

I think he is realising that if he carries on much longer he wouldn’t have a long life!!
Most of his friends who free solo are dead and Alex is moving into mountaineering.
It doesn’t matter how skilled you are all it takes is a hold to break off or a bit of grease on i vital foothold and it’s game over!!
At least when i fall your gear should stop you decking out |

I think he is realising that if he carries on much longer he wouldn’t have a long life!!
Most of his friends who free solo are dead and Alex is moving into mountaineering.
It doesn’t matter how skilled you are all it takes is a hold to break off or a bit of grease on i vital foothold and it’s game over!!
At least when i fall your gear should stop you decking out " |

I got so caught up in talking about Alex Honnold that I forgot to say the person i most admire.
It has to be my Gran
She worked 3 jobs to make sure all 4 her children never went without.
Her family was her life and her greatest joy!
She was always there for me and stuck by me through thick and thin.
She was even offered to meet the Queen in recognition of her 30+ years of charity work for the British legion but turned it down as she wasn’t a Royalist and didn’t want to be a hypocrite!!
I could go on and on but just say she was one of a kind |

My grandmother. She’s always been there for me, since I lost both my parents. When my marriage broke up, she helped put me back together by listening and just being a refuge during the post break up storm.
She has lost one son and one daughter to cancer, and really struggled, but has still kept going for the rest of us.
Just before Christmas she had a heart attack and I thought that was it, so did the paramedic and the doctors at the hospital. Then she surprised us all and was sat out of bed just on oxygen into her nose on Christmas Eve. Christmas Dinner in hospital was different to what we all expected to be doing.
Despite how ill she was, she always asked how I was and told me to be safe whenever I left to go home.
Yesterday I took her shopping and she raced round the supermarket with her trolley, depositing everything into the basket I was holding.
She’s still not got her confidence back fully, Its her birthday this week and I know I won’t have her for ever. I’ve been lucky to have her as long as I have. She would never think she’s anyone heroine, she really is though.
Xx

Those unfortunate people who get nothing handed to them, work their asses off for a pittance and struggle through life but still make a go of it with a smile on their faces |

"At risk of sounding like a kiss arse.
I kind of admire the Mods in a perverse sort of way.
Must be a difficult role at times." The only Mods I've heard of are from Mods and rockers or Quadrophenia are they who you mean? |

Those in the caring professions. Doing a job nobody else really wants to do, for very little cash in difficult conditions and fairly unappreciated by employers and those 'in authority' alike. |
