Bore da Dear friends Fabbers and Forumites.
Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Happy St David's day to all us Taffs .
It's our national day .
Pooch and I will be celebrating with a jolly Welsh wander and a bowl of Cawl, a Welsh stew .
A day for songs , poetry rejoicing in all things Welsh and of course Cwtches.
So my fellow country women and men how will you be celebrating ?
Taff and Pooch

"Happy St David's Day everyone. How do you all celebrate?"
We all have different ways.
Me? I shall play Welsh music all day (mainly Calon Lân, my favourite), have a walk out with the dog, and take in the beautiful scenery, and feel proud to be Welsh. X |

"Happy St David's Day everyone. How do you all celebrate?"
By engaging in close harmony singing at the bottom of a mineshaft.
Being serious though, it’s not a massive p*ss up like St Patrick’s Day. It tends to revolve more around cultural/arts events and general gatherings of folks really.
For example, in the town I’m from originally there’ll be a Gymanfa Ganu - a festival where people get together and sing songs. They’ll have them in places like the US, Oz too.

Usually, but I’d say it was simple, hearty fare suitable for rugged, mystical outdoor types like WalkingTaff, rather than something ostentatious and fancy.
Welsh cakes, cawl (Welsh soup) and so on. Oh, and tea - lots and lots of tea. |

Cawl has both in, but other vegetables too. It’s vegetable soup really (though it can have bits of meet in), but somehow tastes of the wild mountain air and land of Snowdonia |

Happy St David's Day to my fellow chosen people of God
Brings back memories of felt leeks pinned to shirts and the girls in their Welsh outfits. Welsh cakes in the hall and a stirring rendition of Calon Lân - still my favourite Welsh hymn |

The words are beautiful. It’s a shame you don’t hear it sung at the rugby any more:
I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls,
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart. |

My first visit was to the old stadium. A great big dark bowl filled with the world's greatest choir. Massive shame that it isn't sung these days. |

It was spine-tingling in the old days. It’s a shame it’s been lost - a chorus of BoH and HaA is a pale imitation.

Simple and sincere.
Listening to the only boys aloud version
In the words of Amanda Holden “ brings a lump to my throat, and a tear to my eye”. |

I know one of those guys well .
I like it a bit more stripped down and simple than that version, if I’m honest (he felt the same!), but it was totally the right way to do it for that programme.

"And to you taff, love from the non native but a huge admirer of this lush land "
That’s lovely.
As far as I’m concerned, if you bring positivity, skills, a love of the landscapes, a love of the culture, an understanding of the good/bad things about the place and joy......you are Welsh.
I mean you can be German, English, American, Indian, whatever in the traditional sense of nationality, but you can be Welsh too.
