Will the BBC and ITV's BritBox be a hit or a flop?

Loaded with the same crap they broadcast now, just available on demand, and in larger quantities.

Scotland - Aberdeen

They have stated programmes that are already available on freeview such as 'Midsomer Murder' etc so I can see it being a flop unless they are willing to invest real money, it will never take off!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

The investment is tiny compared to Netflix. One commentator said it was equivalent to about 4 episodes of The Crown.

I think the problem will be that they are going to try and charge for things that are on Freeview now. Content from Freeview channels will be stripped down in order to restrict them until BritBox is launched here. They are able to sell this content in the US as it's not as readily available.

"Sounds rubbish then compared to Netflix."

It's a tentative probe.. if they get the interest then they'll push harder.
