So folks, what's your limit with threads? Do you read through a thread in its entirety and then post at the end or just chuck your tuppence worth in irrespective of the other posters? Is it a question of timing of the posts, if they're several hours ago do you just leave it?

What number of posts is too many for you?

Obviously I'm anticipating the first few messages to be witty responses...

It depends if it's a discussion or a free for all.

I do often find I scroll to the end and read backwards though. I'm not really sure why as I can never tell who is quoting who.

I do that too, if its over about 50 posts I do that to see where the topic has veered off to.

If it's a thread about puppies has it become about gangbang etiquette yet, that sort of thing

I generally read all the thread, If I feel like writing something I do. If not I look at the others and just pop in and out.

to what both of you say. I do those things too but I also base whether I'm going to comment on how many previous forums I've commented on. I don't want people thinking, "this fucking clown again" lol though some probably do already

Like reading a paper or magazine from the back page first?

I stopped reading your opening post after the first few sentences.

I miss important information when I skim read and it's caused me a little confusion in the past.

Depends on the Op, who I can (quickly)see has contributed to it. I like reading threads in their entirety and can do that really quickly (and you scoffed at my useless degrees. Ha. Joke's on you).

The only time it irks me and I give up is when people don't cut dowh the response messages and you have whole essays to reread and through until you reach the new input. Honestly; not that bloody difficult to do.

90% of the time I read the whole thread first. If I'm busy I just chuck my thoughts down and come back to read it later.

I look through posts from the whole day and post if I find it interesting.

Doesn't bother me if the thread is hours, days, weeks old. I sometimes do a forum search (as people are told to do) and the forum police tell me off for bumping an old thread.

I look at the short snappy threads first with not many answers. Ones with tonnes of responses need more commitment. I can be a bottom up reader on those too.

I hate scrolling. Threads with lots of copied comments make me tired so I give up and add my comment to the bottom.

Depends on the thread.. but if it's something I'm genuinely interested in, I read it all.

If I'm just having a nosy I'll skim from the bottom.

Depends on how awake I am or how much time I've got too

Yes, topic dependant is probably the same for me. If it's something that I feel strongly about or Im interested in I'll sit and read the whole thing.

..

I rarely read the whole thread and even when I do I’m prone to just skimming

I start at the bottom and work up but lose interest quite often before I finish the thread. I’m easily distracted.

If I want to comment I will, irrespective of other comments on a thread. I’m ok with that

I do try and read all the threads. It's a habbit I have picked up from my work. If it's mega long though I'll scan through.

I find myself sometimes looking in on a thread then leaving it and coming back to it later when I can give it my full attention.

Sometimes I'll read a thread, spot a new poster then get sucked into a verification rabbit hole. I guess it's the fab equivalent of 'squirrel!'
