I have had a flu (no not man flu) a real flu for the last 8 days ,i am getting over it as you do ,but the last bit of it is a blocked up chest that sounds like a barn door creaking on a windy night with a horrible dry cough ,i feel like i am choking most of the time lol,
anyone got any old family rememdies or recommendations ?

i went they said we dont like to give antibiotics now for colds and flu ...you feel crap cus of the high temperature ...drink loads and take paracetamol i have done all that and it is going so no problem ,just this last bit i cant dump off lol |

Covonia, they have a chesty cough mix which is a miracle worker. They also do menthol lozenges which are quite powerful.
On a side note, plenty of fluid preferably warm or hot to keep everything loose and easier to cough. I feel for you, took me a good 3 weeks to get rid of mine. |

Youve enlighten me, i thought everyone could get the flu injection. They cost £15 if your not eligable to get them free |

"flu injection is only for the elderly or if you have a heart condition, chest problems, diabetes etc and only then if the doc allows , you can get it in local chemist at a cost "

Steam inhalations with menthol, an oldie but a goody. Even a jug of it by your bedside at night helps.
Covonia for chesty coughs, tastes yuk but add it to warm water and drink it like that, does help. |

thanks for the suggestions ,i dont do pre emptive flu jabs as i am a bloke and not organised enough for stuff like that
thanks for the inhalation suggestions and the covonia ,(i forgot that stuff)
i am off on holiday saturday so if it develops further i will see a local doc
but in the meantime i will try the suggestions you mentioned
