Do you trust your gut instinct or is it just a female thing like female intuition?

If I'm unsure/undecided about something I always go by instinct.

Always go with my gut nowadays. On the occasions that I've ignored that nagging voice, it's bitten me in the arse!

Whether it’s instinct or intuition I don’t know but always trust it. I believe it’s helped me make the right decisions at that point in time.

Occasionally I’ve gone against it, disastrous!

A gut feeling shouldn’t be ignored but it can play tricks on you. It’s actually called a gut instinct because somehow your subconscious is being triggered by something. You should use gut feeling and logic together. It’s all about intuition and I don’t know how it works or what I’m on about but yeah, should listen to your gut.

Definitely. Sometimes it might feel like a wrong decision at the time but it’s always worth trusting your instincts.

How can it play tricks on you if it's right?

I always trust my gut instinct!! If it makes you feel uneasy or something just doesn't feel quite right then it's your body's early warning radar system doing its thing and trying to protect you!!

If you’re a pessimist like I tend to lean towards I can make myself have gut feelings about something by concentrating too hard!

I've seen my mind play tricks on me simply because I hadn't eaten enough or through lack of sleep. I'll always trust my gut though, but it isn't always right

You can train yourself to make better instinctive decisions.

Read Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. Very interesting.

I always go with my gut instinct. Of course, I have no idea what might have happened if I didn't, or if it was indeed it was the right decision, but I can't recall a time when it lead me to disaster.

But you may be right.

My gut tells me a certain someone is nice but all the logic/ evidence says otherwise. Or maybe it's the other way round. I'm a knobhead.

I’ve had about 4 occasions where ‘something’ feels off- and it’s been utterly correct every time

To elaborate- each time it’s like that deja vu or being watched sensation for me.

I just didn’t think about it but after the last one it was like i knew what was wrong or was about to happen and it even made me think to head away from the trouble before it started.

Hiding in the shadows

Trust your instincts..

On the few occasions I've ignored that little voice, my neck hairs prickling, I've regretted it.

Lesson learnt. Won't happen again

Central

Gut instinct may mean different things to many. We have 2 largely different ways of reaching conclusions on things - an emotional one and a rational way.

Of gut instinct means just an emotional response, where we don't consciously think, it's potentially fallible and may not give us what we may really want. We're creatures of habit, so something different may be resisted ! That's fine if there's serious danger but trying new things could be the best thing we'll do - even if all things have an element of risk.

If we think rationally upon things, we're able to assess how well something meets our objectives, the risk s etc, as an example. We can acknowledge how we feel but decide our course of action.

In essence, it's good to not ignore something that we feel but also to use our rational minds power to the full.

Informed decisions are a strong basis for learning and potentially breaking out of stuck patterns - use rational thinking as a good balance with emotions
