we all have friendships on and off fab
im wondering what you expect from friends
do you expect them to keep stum if you tell them a secret, or if you lend them money you get it back and not false promises of paybacks or do you have friends that take and never give?
This has come to speaking to people at work yesterday and made me think, id like to think i would do anything for my friends ( friends that i see love and talk to alot)
i dont mean accquantances who you may see occasionally but you dont class as friends
so what do you expect from a friendship? |

Trust, honesty and kindness.
some befriend because they see you as a second credit union... some repay, others don't.
it's not a bad thing as long as they just ask, not some bleading heart story, then you are just being played.
it's a lesson, a valuable one.
just expect dignity from both sets. |

To put up with my moods Seriously you have to know me very well to see anything but sunny jem.
Thats it, i dont expect anything else, the people i know and love i would house feed water and in some cases fuck. i would do it because i care about them, like them and /or fancy them, but dont expect the same in return. |

Honesty and respect.
I don't lend money to friends unless I can afford to give it away... in which case I give it to them and if they can pay it back later it's a bonus.
If I can't keep a secret to myself and have to tell them, I should be so surprised if sometimes they feel the need to do the same... that's not the same as blabbing to the world and his wife or a general lack of discretion. |

I d say there are friends with whom I share everything and they can expect help in any situation and 100% loyalty without question. And then there are friends who are not that close but I d still grant them loyalty and help although not quite to the same extent as the first group. Both groups can expect honesty at all times. |

a true friend is someone that you can not speak to for years but when you see each other its like you were never apart
someone who listens to you and is there for you without you even having to ask

North of The Wall - youll need your vest |
On here I expect friends to be people who I can trust to have private conversations and knowing it wont go any further, I enjoy their company, and thats about it.
In real life I have friends that if I dont see them for months, or even years, when we meet each other its as though we saw each other only the day before. Id trust them with my house keys, my bank acount details and I know I can tell them anything. |

I'm about to lose one of my best friends as she is going to move out of the area.
At the moment I am heartbroke, but know that what she is doing she is doing for her, to give her a happier life.
Will take some getting used to not seeing her regularly, but we will always be friends |

My closest friends and i have been through everything, people can go through together and where as close now as we where 26 years ago. If one needed to ask me to lend them money i would just give them it as there would have to be a really good reason. When we all had young kids and not alot of money, the ones who had the most money on the day would pay for whatever we where doing. It was never on a payback policy but other the years i think it worked out pretty equal. I was also with my best friend when she had my goddaughter |

I felt like that when my best friend moved to Oz but she is still my closest friend and we are always there for each other, even though it isn't in person. Talk talk must hate us because we make very good use of their cheap telephone package.

Non judgemental, in the sense that true friends accept you as you are, warts and all.
In the event of any crisis, they would do whatever they can to help without inflicting their own moral standings on you.
I am very lucky to have a handful of friends that I can count on, my ex-hubby included.

I measure a true friend as someone who will get up at 3 am and come pick me up from the side of the road when my car is broken down.
Aside from that my friends all vary in their personality and attributes |

"I'd call the AA! "
Last time i called the AA it was quicker for my boyfriend to come home from london get the trailer hooked up and come collect me and my bike from 20 miles away.... than it would have been for them to come and jump start my bike... and standing in the cold and rain for 3 hours vs calling a friend to come pick me up...

"Hmmm, AA would normally attend a lone female within an hour, or one can make a claim against them. "
or ask them to walk 3 miles back up the steepest hill ever to get a tyre number cos both nears side tyres were punctured - even though she had full AA cover including relay |
