good game.... now pressure is on ireland to get all 5 points tomorrow!!!!

i don't think any team wins the triple crown/grand slam as i think wales will lose at least 1 (i could see them losing both!)

I think Wales need to make sure they don't become complacent and take their foot off the gas against the Scots as Murrayfield is never an easy place to go. Then we have the home advantage against the Irish. On form, like the 2nd half today, I have every faith in us

Nah. Rugby is my 3rd or 4th favourite sport. I only watch Wales, have never been to an international. I like Italy's anthem. I love Flower of Scotland.

I'm watching the football but don't support either.

Last match will be interesting. Still believe Wales will do it. Defensively they are rated as one of the world's best if not the best ATM. Ireland are scoring better, but Wales is scoring. Ireland will have to break the Welsh defence to that and I can't see that happening. This last weeks activities in Welsh rugby was a bigger distraction that they are admitting. That preparation this week will be much better.

Rugby is an outdoor sport .

The fans still turn up at Twickenham, Murrayfield, Aviva, stade France etc... without the possibility of a roof being closed.

I don’t know about the others but at Murrayfield the seats are mostly covered by the canopies around the stadium / so fans don’t get wet.

This roof business is stupid. You’d think that people would want to play in the dry so the ball isn’t slippy and it’s a better quality game.

Wales is wet as fuck, wet, always raining hence why they stuck a roof on our most important stadium.

That being said, every welsh player plays for a club and that clubs rugby ground will be exposed to the elements so it’s not like the visiting team have an advantage cos they want to play in the wet. Welsh players have played in the rain all their lives.

I don’t get the mentality behind it though. Like both teams benefit from having better playing conditions. Maybe if it was a hot country like South Africa or Australia who aren’t as used to playing in the rain, then playing in wet and cold conditions would give a slight advantage to the team who are used to those conditions.

Welsh players play for their clubs and train their entire rugby lives so are just as equipped to deal with wet conditions.

But it just seems rather silly to me. If I was a player I’d rather be dry and have better playing conditions. Just makes no sense.

Kinda agree there.

Real waste of money putting a roof on then.

We shouldnt be using to the roof in Wimbledon either. Wimbledon is the best outdoor grass tournament in the world... Ooops it was.

Opting for the roof open knowing the weather will be bad ( which I thought was the whole point of it in the first place) might be to give an excuse if they lose, can blame the handling on the wet weather.

As been said, no advantage and no thought for the fans at all.

It'll be a poorer scrappy game as a result of the conditions, where if the roof is used wed all have a very good skill controlled game rather than condition controlled.

This might raise the question to be debated within the RU.

The right place

Every home team has the home ground and crowd advantage. Wales play more games at the Principality stadium than anyone else (obviously) and have more experience of playing with the roof closed. With the roof closed the atmosphere in the stadium is different and the crowd sounds louder. Some away teams will choose to have the roof open to lessen the impact of crowd support.

In reality I think the roof open or closed makes very little difference to the result in dry weather.

If it’s raining, having the roof open will sometimes favour the team with the stronger forwards. It turns into a pick and go and bosh it up the pitch game. If the roof is closed the team that want to move the ball through the backs might have an advantage.

"I don’t get the mentality behind it though.

It'll be a poorer scrappy game as a result of the conditions, where if the roof is used wed all have a very good skill controlled game rather than condition controlled.

This might raise the question to be debated within the RU."

I think world rugby have bigger questions to discuss at the moment

What happens if the match starts sunny and then it starts raining - close it at half time?

Rugby is an outdoor sport to be played in the weather of the day

"This roof business is stupid.

It is a stupid business I agree. It’s the only rugby venue in the NH where the question has to be asked - open or closed.

It shouldn’t be a choice it should be closed for bad weather end of.

But you can’t do that at any other stadium - so it makes perfect sense for the default in Cardiff to be the same default as the other tournament stadia"

But is it Wales’ fault that nobody else put a roof on their stadium? It’s a very wet country hence why they put a roof on to stop open air events being otherwise called off due to weather conditions.

But the plays are made off the bounce of the ball, it’s odd shaped for a reason let’s see it played true to the game

Does that restrict crowd numbers to a default too?

To those who think the crowd noise advantage would be too great... By opening the roof the Irish team won't even know they have any supporters.

Blimey, no one wants anyone to lose as most of us have said previously it is a winter sport, play it as it should be played, rain hail snow, you said yourself it’s a rainy country so it’s not like the Welsh players don’t be used to it

Same. They have outplayed France and just panicked at wrong times.

Ref should also have carded more French just on sheer volume of penalties alone.
