Middle of a chilled afternoon, lounging on my sofa, cold drink in hand and listening to some good music, all in all a nice calm afternoon....or so I thought.
A crash and scream comes from upstairs and with a sigh I get up to go see what's going on. As I get upstairs my two kids have decided they want to kill eachother and wreck the house while they do it.
there's toys everywhere, they're screaming at eachother, teeth gnashing, angry snarls. In a thought I reckin I'm raising wild animals rather than children at this stage. It seems I can never get a nice afternoon without drama, Why is it so tough being a parent...... |

. Courage mon brave. One day they'll be old enough to take you out for a cold one.
When I was pregnant with my first a lady in our butchers shop said "at least you know where they are now" I didn't understand her, at the time...by heck I do now |

Out shopping this afternoon and two kids were running round the store. Mum said 'you dont usually act like this what's wrong?' Younger boy said 'she has deliberately hurt me twice so its my turn to hit her' Exasperated mum, 'oh she was only playing'.. younger brother growls 'well I'm not I want to fxxking kill her!'
The sister legged it (wise move). The poor mum was mortified.and an older lady leaned over and patted her hand and said 'this too shall pass...'
Gotta love kids |

I know that scenario well!
My kids regularly try to kill each other!
Boy and girl - 18 months age difference and zero in common!
In recent months (in their early teens now) they’ve screamed at each other slightly less - which is promising but I’m not getting my hopes up yet! |

Exactly, we don’t know the OP hasn’t spent all morning with them, we don’t know he hasn’t already done a full blown walk and trip to the park by the time he wrote this, we don’t know if it’s literally the first time he has sat down today having a little rest, as far as I am aware you are allowed a break or two during the day! They say looking after kids is more than a full time job and I’m sure you get breaks in the day at a fulltime job (allegedly). We also don’t know they haven’t been up stairs since the morning and this is why they are fighting...soooo many ‘what if’s!’

This is why cats are so much more preferable than kids. If the cats are scrapping with each other you can kick them out in the garden all night. I understand that if you do that with kids you'll get social services breathing down your neck. |

Yes maybe but I agree with the OP, raising kids is tough work and in my experience it’s lack of contact with them that can lead to bad behaviour. |

If I see parents out struggling with their kids behaviour or a child with a tantrum I always smile at them and say something like "I've had plenty of that" if help's required I offer it.
One of ours would have terrible screaming tantrums, it was terribly stessful. Once I was struggling to get him into the pushchair people walked past me tutting except one woman who stopped and offered help. It was exactly what this tired, stressed parent who was doing her best needed. Not assumptions about my parenting skills.
Incidentally both our kids had plenty of contact |
