I wish I'd thought of that.....

I've just seen a newish profile that was practically word for word the same as another long standing user and it got me thinking....
Do you ever read profiles and think "damn that's good, wish I'd thought of it"?
Would you copy parts of someone else's profile in the hopes of improving your own?
If someone copied yours, how would you feel? Flattered? Annoyed?
I'm not talking about general sayings and regular things that crop up on many profiles, more well thought out 'youisms' that make you stand out

I've had part/all of my profile copied over the years, it does depend on how much has been copied as to how I feel about it.
I don't really feel flattered, I just think, 'Hmm I know where you saw that!' |

Yeah I've had similar on my old profile.
This one I've seen is a clear copy and paste of a fairly long profile text with just changes to their physical features and what they're looking for.
Pretty much word for word though |

"I'm not sure if I'd care or not, its damn lazy though. Is it against site rules to copy someone's profile text? " if it was that would be a horrible way to get people banned... Copy paste the profile then report the person you copied to get them banned .... Hmmmmmm i dont know.

How would you prove originality?"
Not sure, is there some way they can check when the profile text was added? I have no idea. |

Probably is, do you think people would be bothered to monitor that is another question. |

I guess unless your paths were to cross or someone told you, how would you know though?
You're unlikely to stumble across it for example if a male copied another male if you don't actively search other men etc
I doubt 2 forum users would be so obvious but you never know |

I know a forum user who’s profile text was plagiarised by another form user. Bit daft really because it was obvious he was going to get caught out. They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but I don’t think he feels this way though, it’s just bloomin lazy |

Nobody alive would copy mine ... And I would have no desire to copy anyone else's to be honest |

There is the other side where advice is given to newbies seeking it to check out other successful profiles, I guess some take it to the extreme.
Imitation is a form of flattery after all. |
