So when you take your dog out for a walk and end up meeting others doing the same do you find that you get to know the name of the dog but not the owner, and the next time you meet you recognise the dog and remember it's name but still don't know the owners name. Seems to happen to me , Jez, loads lol.

Yep, the owners become "Alfies dad, Lily's mum" etc.

Hah! Yep!! ??

Seems we loose our identities when we become parents (to children or fur babies)

Besides, the dogs are far more important than their owners

Actually sort of, yes. There's a lady we occasionally see that I've seen on the gym too. She's got done serious guns so I call her "lady with the shoulders" - yeah, not that imaginative right?

All the time! And even if we exchange names, I manage to forget theirs, while remembering the bloody dogs!?

Okay, follow on question.

What dog/dogs so you have at the moment and what would you like to get?

(They're all special but everybody has their favourites )

Shrewsbury

We have a 3 year old gsd.

And we are known by our names as where we walk him has regular people and one off people, so unlikely to meet the one Offs again.

I have a German Shepherd, I am inconsequential, my dog is the one people remember. I've been ignored by people because they don't know who I am without my dog.

56 kg of long haired German Shepherd is hard to miss though

I've been ignored by people while they smile and say hello to the dog! Bloody rude or what!?

Tbh not many people will attempt to say hello, and my boy has his favourite people. Though, if people do stop to talk my boy will show if he likes them or not by dropping his beloved bounzer (looks like a giant butt plug) at their feet, the trick is to try and grab it before he does, not many want to play that game though.

He did actually, I often take him there to choose a new toy.

Last item was an interball. He loves that too.

13 year old Jack Russell a bitch in EVERY sense of the word

11.5 year old cocker spaniel - has dementia and screams - a lot

8 month old rescue patterjack - little love bug who's getting there with his training

6.5 year old black lab - 3 months and a day between him and my daughter and they are close

3 year old Labrador - she has moments of sheer brilliance

Next dog for us is likely to be a westie or cairn

I'll have to try that with mine sometime. Although, knowing him, he'll try to grab as many as he can get in his mouth!

Yes most definitely I do this. I know all the dogs names and talk to them all and refer to their owners as Ruby's dad, Patch's mum etc. I've also had instances of saying 'hello gorgeous' and the owners smiling and saying hi when it's abundantly clear I'm talking to the dog

I did training classes with some people every week for 2 months or so and I never learned the owners' names

Our current dog is a 15 year old Welsh collie x German shepherd. Never aggressive and a lovely temprement. Had him from a pup from the RSPCA. A complete softie.

Nope, alas my mutt is not dog friendly and is never let off his lead

I wave at other dog walkers from a safe distance. Standing and chatting is not an option.

That would have been me done for the night - completely ignoring everyone, fussing the dog

I found myself guilty yesterday when I came out the swimming pool to see a couple with a whippet. It was a good few seconds fussing the dog before I apologised and said hello to the people....

We've got a greyhound (soooo laid back!) and a saluki (in the 40+years I've had dogs, he's probably the most loving ever)
