Do you trust mainstream media

This debate has been going on for decades but I'm curious to know your views on the current state of the media such as BBC, channel 4 news, sky etc. And whether you feel like they're a reliable source and that you can trust them to tell the truth.

Can you handle the truth?

Every source has an angle and biases, it's inevitable. It's up to us to filter that. Some may be more reliable than others.

Every form of media has a bias from printed to online social media you have to take erything with a pinch of salt but I would say the likes of the BBC are less inclined to make up shit and pervert things.

I remember in the early episodes her scepticism was such that she could have been slapped in the face by a grey skinned, bulbous headed alien with an anal probe and still say it was probably a hoax!

A good way to check for facts is by checking the story on both sides and picking out what was common in both

I find it hard to believe just about anything in this day and age unless there's solid evidence or I've witnessed it with my own eyes

Well no. Some sides are patent nonsense. If one side believes that Australia is an international hoax and the other believes it's a country, the former side should be laughed out of the room.

Critical thinking and evidence are required.

The BBC, yes i do regardless of the accusations that it's just another echo chamber and certainly more than all the shit that's posted on facebook et al.

All news sources and journalists have an agenda to push so the only recommendation is to gather your information from more than one source make your own decisions because they're always will be someone pulling the strings.

Just came across this.

Take a guess as to what my answer would be.

This is because if I have only one thing going for me, it's that I can handle the truth.

(doing something about it is a bit harder though)

The press can no longer be trusted to be biased in there reporting and it becomes more and more obvious.

Years ago, when a news story developed they got experts in to interview or eye witnesses...now all you seem to get is reporters interviewing reporters and trying to sensationalise through the way they express themselves in the hopes that people don’t see through the lies and misdirection.

Mainstream media is basically just like any other entertainment show. Only popular bus reported on

Remember the myanmar refugees? It's still going on. Brexit is the thing now.

Remember the footballer in that plane crash recently? How a search was crowdfunded to find the plane? A body was found and their was a funeral for him and everyone came together in a heartbreaking unity? As tragic as it was the pilot died in that crash too but he wasn't newsworthy as a footballer and that wouldn't sell.

In the last U.S. Presidential election, the vast majority of news sources, both broadcast and print, were actively trying to help Hilary and prevent Trump from winning. There is no objective journalism anymore. Reporters confuse opinion with facts.

They give much publicity to various protests by leftists and hoaxes about fake "hate crimes" but practice a double standard in ignoring real assaults on conservatives.

The news media, entertainment media, and the educational system have all been infiltrated with the goal of promoting a point of view rather than discussing why we believe what we do in a civil manner. Anything that someone disagrees with or that they find offensive is a "trigger" as if they are not responsible for their own behavior. A Trump "MAGA" hat or a sticker on your car is an act of violence and, if your are offended, you are justified in responding with violence in order to "defend" yourselves. The media will expoit this to promote a narrative. They will actually use the word narrative.

I don't actually look for opposing points of view because my opponents don't do so. They refer to "our divided country" when they are the dividers.

They do these things whey they are not dumbing us down with nonsense such as "celebrities' showing off their bikini bodies at the beach or dresses worn by actresses at the Academy Awards, etc.

I go to news sources that confirm my point of view because anything else gets my blood pressure up too much.
