Anyone here used or using the Facebook Research app, which was based on the Onavo app? Users were being paid £20 to use this app but a public outcry has revealed that the data Facebook collected included private messages in social media apps, chats from in instant messaging apps – including photos/videos sent to others, emails, web searches, web browsing activity, and even ongoing location information. Now they have been caught out, Facebook is sayings it's going to be more transparent now... hahahaha. And apparently WhatsApp is sold by FB as an end to end encryption messaging app.
Question is how careful are you with your use of apps and do you really know where the information is going? Do you know of any effective recourse you would use if it happened to you? |
