Last night at The BRITs Jess Glynne took off her makeup while performing.
She’s been called inspirational on social media, and she had women in tears.
Do you feel it was inspirational?
Also I’m sure the song she sang is about not covering up, not wearing makeup and being comfortable in her own skin. So I’m not sure if it was as big a plot twist as people are making it out to be.. |

No plot twist just a performance congruent with the song lyrics. I didn’t see it live but watching the video I just think it’s the marketing ploy for the song.
Also I still really don’t like her voice, sounds out of tune and very nasal despite using copious amounts of auto tune. |

Some one else did it a few years ago so she wasn't the first.
She arrived at The Brits, walked down the red carpet, did the photos etc with a face full of make up.
She sings that she doesn't wear it on Thursdays but decided to remove it on a Wednesday, not her fault I suppose.
I don't like her voice but I like that one song by her.
I didn't feel inspired in the slightest but hope my Daughter thought it was okay not to wear make up on Thursdays.
I'd rather she took inspiration from that than Little Mix wearing next to nothing any day of the week.

I think most women look as attractive with it as they do without. It can't be good for the skin.
Anything tgat gives people more confidence in being themselves and their own skin.. I'm 100% for. |

She spammed the hell out of Social Media this morning.
Clever marketing ploy
Strong message none the less.
However if she was saying a message about not needing make up why have it on in the first place.
Just looked like loads of women taking make up off at the end of a day.
I enjoyed watching it anyway. I think she is very talented and pretty. |

In a world where young girls are bombarded day in day out with make up ads and made to feel less than perfect if they have even the slightest blemish you can't see how having someone on national TV, a pop culture icon, raj's they'd make up off and bare their natural beauty might be seen as inspirational to some? |

Oh yes absolutely I sometimes wear it because I've got very rosy cheeks so so I put a bit of BB cream on or something but my point is it's absolutely fine to wear make-up but I don't see how it's inspirational to not wear it but I guess maybe she was trying to make a point.

In a world where young girls are bombarded day in day out with make up ads and made to feel less than perfect if they have even the slightest blemish you can't see how having someone on national TV, a pop culture icon, raj's they'd make up off and bare their natural beauty might be seen as inspirational to some? "

I think to be honest anything that promotes women having choice and being able to be who they want to be is a really good thing but I just think this is a publicity stunt and nothing more.
But she is a role model and an icon to a lot of young women so hopefully it will be perceived as a positive message. I'm just a bit cynical and yes you are right the word Hero and legend is very overused as well. |

I agree. Apparently she used a product that cost £45 to remove her make up. I expect that will inspire the producers of that product... |

I must admit I’ve heard that song more than I care to hear while listening to heart over the past few weeks and I’ve never really listened to the lyrics, so her performance did the job and I do think it’s quite a inspirational song in someways but took me to sit and watch her do all that just to actually hear the words.
I never wear makeup unless I’m going out, I can’t be bothered with all that faf to be totally honest, Day in day out, I applaud other women that can leave the house in a full face of make up, that can get up really early and do that routine every morning, I wish I could have that in me but I enjoy the extra half hour in bed and besides ads says I look beautiful no matter what.

It can be an enhancement. If it gives someone confidence to wear make up, then I'm all for it. If someone decides not to, then good for them also. I feel seeing someone take all their make up off, won't really inspire many to go naked. There was a a huge surge on a certain social site that encouraged women to go bare and post pics, a few years ago. A lot did It, which was great, but it didn't last. |

Normalising the natural look will only happen by grand gestures such as this. Seeing people they idolise baring all (not literally all obviously) |
