Was having a conversation with my grandfather earlier on and he wondered if i'd always grown up with a mobile phone. I told him i had my first Nokia 3310 when i was about 14 or 15 years old.
I remember the massive Packard Bell pc with only a Floppy Drive and being one of the first families out of the people we knew to have a home pc.. Microsoft Encarta or Encyclopedia's were the way to find out information. Only game console id really experienced was my dads Amiga Commodore until the Playstation came out when i was about 12. Music was released on a cassette not a CD, and the VHS was what i watched films from not DVD's or Blu Rays.
My question is, a lot has changed in my short 23years on this planet, Where do you think technology will advance too? and Are all these changes for the best? |

I've got a candlestick phone and bellset No1 which were both made in 1929 - and they still work, in fact they work better than this modern plastic junk which is maunfactured today |

My first one was an NEC car phone which comprised of a handset with a curley wire just like a house phone, connected to a termintion box in the footwell then a bloody thick cable leading to a square box about a foot square and 3 inches thick mounted in the boot. The aerial was drilled through the roof of my car ! Shortly after that, capacitively coupled glass mount aerials became available which meant that you didn't have to drill your car (mind you, they wern't quite as good ...)

No View, this one wasn't transportable, it was fixed and that was that. The handset could be unplugged for security but that was it lol.
I also had a 'mobile' handset, it was a Nokia Cityman and I had the ESN cloned so that I could use the car phone or the 'mobile' on the same number ... unheard of in them days, but it goes to prove, hacking and phreaking was alive and well all those years ago.
Yep, it was on Cellnet, 0780 if I'm not mistaken lol ... happy days |

I remember my grandma getting a telephone. She was the first in the family. You used to pick it up and it was a party line.
My grandma again was the first person in the village to have a television (aquired secondhand from lord of the manor) my mum used to invite all the kids around after sunday school to watch the lone ranger.
When i was born, my dad had to fight his way through the snow to the nearest telephone box to see if i had arrived yet and then wait until the next day until he could see me.

Thing is, there was no CLI, SMS, Internet, camera or any of that bolony. Literally all you could do was make and receive a phone call and you paid through the nose for it. How boring was that pmsl |

on the question of where it will advance to...
I think it will completely change from the electronic to the organic. Our technology will be embedded in the growing science of biotech and so will be much more flexible.

In the not too distant future everyone will carry an internal chip
This will include all things such as Internet,tv and leisure stuff as well as all ya information
It will of course be voluntary at first xx

I remember my first PC, we werent well off so not the first family to have it, but do remember the components and the software. Encarter was google at the time, click what you want and it appeared.
In terms of advancing technlogy, things will progress so fast you wont know what happend. For instance, the internet, we grew up with dial up and now we use broadband. Play the dial up tune in 10 years time and only a handfull of people will listen and smile, the others will think they are being invaded by aliens. Then there is 3d tv, oned with glasses, there are roumours out that samsung or the likes have cracked 3d tv without glasses!!!! the futuer for technology is bright and will continue to be as long as there is competition.
