I'm of the understanding that someone who catfishes is hiding their identity under a false profile in order to extract information from you.
Stealing money is one example.
An ex partner can also catfish to find out what you're up to.
I may be wrong, but that's the definition I've been using. |

Some people are very private on here, some are very open. When the two mix it can lead to confusion sometimes. Add in paranoia and not being able to hear the tone in a voice.. it can be confusing at times. I wouldn't worry about it. |

I was catfished on PoF by my mates ex, to find out what he was getting up to. It's quite an unnerving experience, especially when they get abusive and start dropping your private info that's not on PoF. Made me suspect my ex and a few of my friends. Horrible. |
