I got a Kindle for Christmas and even though I love picking up a book it so much easier to read from the Kindle.

I've always enjoyed reading but even more so now

I am looking for book suggestions please?

I've had my Kindle for over a year and love it, it goes everywhere with me. As for book recomendations, depends what you're into, I've downlaoded some fantastic freebies from Amazon and then I've paid a fiver for a download and it's turned out to be rubbish. Look out one Amazon for their daily deals, books going for 99p instead of their previous higher price.

The game of throne books are good if ya fancy a lord of the rings type book but with shed loads of sex. I think the series is actually called of fire and ice but not 100% sure.

The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection. Every one of the 60 Conan Doyle original stories, and all for a grand total price of.... wait for it....77p (yes, 77 pence - incredible!)

Most of the classics are free to download from Amazon (Dickens, Shakespeare etc) and you'll find dozens of other free books for Kindle on Amazon's Kindle section. Other books can be as low as 99p. There's thousands of them and they are delivered wirelessly to your Kindle as soon as you request/purchase them. You'll need to set up an account and register your Kindle first though.

Yes, because they are not backlit. Which means you can't read them in bed without a light on either.

...but you can buy a case/cover for them that has a reading light built into it and is recharged via a usb connection to a pc.

The good thing about a kindle is that once you've read the book you just delete it. It doesn't sit around the house for years gathering dust, taking up room until you finally decide to offload it at a car boot sale for 50p.

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

I love my Kindle and usually look through the free books to see what's about. The best thing about it is that it fits into my handbag nicely and has come in handy whilst waiting to be seen at some medical appointment.

The Kindle I was bought for xmas changed my life, because of my sight loss I haven't been able to read a book for about 3 years, now with it on the largest setting I can read again and when my eyes get tired I just turn on to read to me, there are many great free books on Amazon and I hope you enjoy yours

I looked into both Kindle and Kobo and decided on Kobo. Main reason is that, what what I read and was told, you can only get books from Amazon with the Kindle, whereas the Kobo you can get from elsewhere.

So far I've only downloaded the free books available, but I have to say I love the Kobo.

Forgive my naivety, as I don't have any of these gadgets... but couldn't you do the same sort of thing on an ipad?

What differentiates the two? other than I assume a kindle is purely for books and nothing else.

Not sure I'd ever get on of these, like my books to be books, don't have to worry about breaking them for one thing!

I think the difference is £300 a colour screen and a fancy badge.

My Kindle has wifi so I can also access the internet, only problem is, I can't see the keys to type anything as they are smaller than on a mobile phone

Bought a Kindle for my girlfriend at Christmas, but some reason couldn't download any books. Returned it and got a replacement but still no joy so got a Kobo instead.

She loves her Kobo because it was much easier to set up and having a touch screen is easier to use than the Kindle, which has these fiddlely buttons that makes 'typing' very clunky. And of course page turning is simplicity itself with the merest of touches

My girlfriend highly recommends "The One You Love" by Paul Pilkington, which despite the title is an unputdownable crime thriller. And was more it's also a free download.

Quick tip for Kindle / Kobo / Ebook users. Download a program called 'Calibre' - its an excellent e-book manager and (as someone mentioned above) allows you to load e-books from multiple sources, convert different e-book formats etc. Will also backup the books on your device.

In addition, it can sync news feeds etc to a device - so its similar to taking the morning paper with you!

I'm no Kindle expert, but from what I've read you download the book/file onto your computer, then convert it to the Kindle file type, then transfer to your Kindle.

Seemples!
