I saw a live performance of The Producers in the round at the Royal Exchange in Manchester a couple of weeks ago. I'd never seen a musical, didn't know what it was about and was pretty sceptical about going but the seats were cheap.

Oh. My. God. It was amazing and I sat either with my mouth open in awe or roaring with laughter for three hours.

I'm a convert, to musicals, theatre or performance in general. Can someone recommend other shows I should see?

The Play That Goes Wrong. Get there early so you don’t miss the pre show fun.

There and to the left a bit

Check the original film of The Producers out - it's a classic

Aside from that can recommend the following musicals:

American Idiot - The Green Day Musical (currently touring and brilliant)

Our House - The Madness Musical (A lot of local productions currently)

Spamalot is good fun

Rocky Horror is a classic (dressing up optional)

Ooh I have tickets for American Idiot but didn’t know anyone who had seen it. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Seen it four times now - is very gritty (as you'd expect) but very good
