I wish there was a website where you could exchange services for another service...

Kinda destroyed my bathroom taking flaky paint off and a chuck of plaster board followed.... So now in need of someone to basically turn my bathroom into an amazing bathroom...

Can bake cakes, let you use my bathroom on social media etc

You'll have plenty of offers for sex in return instead of cakes.

I mentioned my washing machine was playing up once and my inbox exploded with individuals who'd take a look at it in return for sexual favours.

Had they been the kind of person I would have met anyway then I might have accepted, alas, they weren't

I have heard of places that do that, but not for a long time. People used to bank points for helping people. Babysitting equated to so many points, fixing a fence etc. You banked the points, and traded for something you needed.

Sanding....why would you have to sand after plastering?

Love how it's mostly ladies who have responded!

I'd love a website where you build up points and trade in for other services. I remember when I was a kid, my dads mates would come over and give dad a hand with the DIY task he was dong and he'd go to there and lend a hand, I am sure everyone is in it for the money these days and no one wants to help anyone.

Hmm as for services that is a very open ended question. Think it would depend on the person

I think being able to ‘DIY’ is becoming a lost art.

I admit, I have a very limited tool box and very limited experience on how to actually do DIY.

Plastering and doing a bathroom?! Ok stick to ikea, sorry!

That’s why you have plasterboard.

Have you tried self help or a college course? It could be a handy skill to learn.

TBH my bathroom is so shot, walls uneven, holes also know as caves and cracks in the walls, if I did it I'd be laying in the bath looking at the uneven tiling and being annoyed to hell with it all

Should get a smooth finish with the plaster, no need for sanding unless you don't have much experience at plastering. It is a skill plastering

Try and getting it done first time when the house is older than your great great grandma and the ceiling is uneven by couple of centimeters.

There was a small town near us that did something like the op speaks of some years ago . Even a few shops and cafes enrolled .

Problem was there was a massive overload of what they called Lets points for people offering popular services ( like the cafes and shops ) , which simply couldn’t get used .

So it would only work if there was a parity amongst users and you didn’t end up accumulating stacks of owed jobs that you couldn’t use up .

Why not put something up on Facebook ?

Yea I know what your saying mate, went to knock tiles off in my bathroom and the full wall of tiles and all the plaster came down on top of me, didn't use plaster board years ago it was all Browning, ended up having to gut the entire bathroom and start it all from scratch again. Old houses are a pain to do work in.

That happened to my dad in their Kitchen, the whole wall of tiles fell off and he had to do more work than initially planned.

He has passed over so unless he comes back as an amazing ghost I cannot ask him

Especially in the summer when it's 30 degree outside and you're working from the ladder where it's even hotter.

Fuck sanding is all I'm saying

That's a pretty easy fix....just probably needs a new washer inside the tap, just as long as you know where your stop cock is

I think I could fix a leaky tap. You turn the water of via the stop cock and undo the leaky tap, change the rubber or are they metal? washer thing and put back together...

I have actually got to change the rubber seal on my cars petrol tank, similar principle, that I can do not need to go to a garage...

How much cake do you think a wall of plastering and tiling would cover? I think you're going to have to add biscuits and tea.

Cheeky buggers, their van only cost them £20,000, and a mere £100 pounds per tank of fuel - and they expect more than a cup of tea! What is the world coming to?!

Yup that's all you need to do, it will be a rubber washer more than likely but some modern taps are like a ceramic washer. All the chain diy merchants should have them both in stock aswell.
