So these 2 supermarkets maybe about to merge...

What do you think they'll call themselves?

Jasda?

Asdburys?

What's that got to do with it?

That it wouldnt be a merger, it would be Sainsbury buying asda

So Sainsbury would presumably be the name unless they wanted to keep asda as thier value brand

Very true I thought it was owned by Wal-Mart. Are they selling or are Wal-Mart buying Sainsbury's? It's a nightmare there is no real competition out there. As usual the consumer will screwed (but not in a FAB way lol)

I think it’s Sainsbury’s buying Asda so if it gets past the competition watchdog which is unlikely, then I think they will go with Sasda lol.

Seriously this is bad news for us consumers so the CMA are unlikely to approve it.

Id guess its sainsbury buying asda from wallmart which probbaly wouldnt go well with regulators.

As Wal-Mart trying to buy Sainsbury would just be killed off on day one by the regulator

If its approved it will be interesting if they have to spin off one of the names with x number of stores etc.

Maybe sainsbury can keep asdas where it has no market but any where tjey compete must be spun off to a newly formed asda company.

I still find it crazy asda stands for associated dairys (is that ies or just ys?)

I'm hoping the proposed "merger" doesn't happen.

I work for one of these supermarkets and we have both in our town. There is serious concern amongst staff at both stores that one will be closed and jobs lost
