Whilst the fruit isn’t that cheap some of it’s very good quality. I buy a comical amount of pineapples at the moment from Cost co.

Me and My Girl were debating Costco the other day. I dont go, neither have I ever been. In the words of Public Enamy I 'dont believe the hype'. From what I hear if you shop frugally like my self already the best value is not found there. However she assures me that there are many items there at the best value there. So I will watch this with great interest.

The number of times I get caught out by not including the VAT and think "oo, that's a good deal".

They seem to be very hit and miss for the stuff we buy.

It's worth going just for the very cheap and cheerful cafe! But the rest of it seemed very random to me so far as the true bargains were concerned (and relatively little choice compared to big supermarkets). Granted there's usually a good deal on loo roll, and the ginormous cakes are good value but I couldn't shop there regularly.

An impulse buy from a supermarket is a packet of chewing gum

An impulse buy from Costco is a 43” tv. I’m setting mine up now

You have to be carefull on what you buy in there.

Milk is 2ltrs not 4 pints.

Toilet rolls are good value last a long time.

Breakfast cereal is worth buying and bread has a good long date on it.

Their cream cakes are too sweet.

Some great replies on here!

Yes I have found you've got to be careful and no what the prices are in th supermarkets before buying but when you see things on offer its usually worth it great for parties and good quality food even if sometimes it is the same or more expensive that supermarkets I think its nice food and worth it anyway

That reminds me, it’s time to renew our membership!

We buy meat, Coca Cola and coffee beans, also the occasional extra too if the offer is good. We tend to keep an eye on prices at our local shops, market and supermarket. We like to get the best value for money. It does mean shopping around at different places but it works for us as they are all very close to each other

Live in Scotland Play in England

Mostly use costco membership for the fuel... you get the higher grade fuel for the price of regular and we find we get more mileage out of it so definitely worthwhile

Fuel, cereal, tea, coffee mainly I find it ok but you have to be careful as supermarkets can have better offers on, especially on beer

Joined for a year when they offered free membership, some stuff is excellent quality. But it was more expensive than major supermarkets for the average shop. Paying for membership seemed silly, it also took too long to get the shopping done.

London

I love Costco, their meat and fruits/vegetables are top quality. I love the ribeye steak.

Their Catsan 20lt cat litter is £7.90 with vat, Sainsburys charge £12.50

They also do a 24 pack of glass bottle Coca Cola for under £15, Amazon sells the for around £25, my local shop sells one bottle for £1.40.

Also the cooked meat chicken and ribs.

Then on the way out pepperoni pizza is just like nyc pizza

Fair to say I LOVE COSTCO

I love Costco, but because there's only 2 of us at home I'm very careful about what I buy there. If it's perishable and can't be frozen then I won't buy it because it's all sold in such large quantities that even if it is cheaper for the amount I'm buying, it ends up more expensive because I have to throw half of it away.

I always stock up on sugar, flour, sauces, loo rolls, etc. though... And whatever they have samples of because I'm a sucker for a free sample
