I've started reading these stories online about entitled parents and much like certain videos on YouTube, they are pretty much a mixed bag as some are real stories and some are fake.
It made me ask, where do these people come from and why do they think it's ok to steal someone else's property and give it to their kid?
Whether these stories are real or fake, these people are an absolute disgrace.
What are your thoughts on this and have you ever encountered an entitled parent? |

"Entitled in what way? "
As in spoiling their kids rotten and acting all smug like they're better than everyone else. They would also make up excuses like how well behaved their kids and resort to stealing someone's property for their kid rather than buying one at the shop. |

I don't think that's what entitled means. |

I know what he's talking about I've seen them.
They are from a subreddit called entitled parents.
Things like a guy had his puppy with him at a coffee shop. Kids comes over and wants to pet it. He let's the kid until it pulls the dogs ears making it yelp. Guy takes the kids hands off of the dog making the kid start crying.
Entitled parent walks over screaming this man m*lested my child and has stolen my daughters puppy. Luckily the coffee shop owner knew the guy and basically told the entitled parent to sod off.
The parent incidentally told the kid that's what she'd do to get the puppy for her kid cos someone else overheard her say it.
Thats what the stories are about. That kind of thing. |

There's lots of examples of it. There's a lot of entitled parents out there that make excuses for their shitty kids behaviour and act like it's no big deal and the person complaining should just deal with it. I work in a school I've seen a lot of this behaviour from parents.
One kid has learning difficulties and carries a toy panda everywhere. Another kid took it causing this kid to go into a melt down. When the parent found out her response was "he probably doesn't even know what a panda is so why does he even need it". |

Thanks for the help mate. This kind of topic can be tricky to understand as we can't be sure if it's entitlement or theft. |

Yes we can. I'm sure it's not simple entitlement. |

Don't read them.
All that Facebook crap is virtue signalling and moral values that the people commenting are lying about, to look good to their Facebook friends- half of them they have probably never met. |

I work in a school and I've seen plenty of this too. Basically parents allow their children to behave in anyway and it's everyone else's fault that they don't respond to their child in an appropriate way rather than the child's behaviour and their attitude as a parent. The case is described above I guess I quite extreme but I see it every single day and it becomes tiring. |

Except none of this is on Facebook or has anything to do with virtue signalling.

Indeed it does.
When my partner and I got called into school about a fight my son had gotten into, the teachers were shocked that we didn't make any excuses for his behaviour and he would be punished for it. Shows how rare responsible parents are when they are that shocked at our response. |

The title and the opening comment of the thread is a little bit confusing but nobody is denying the fact it's fast but the phenomenon I guess a parents behaving in this way is known as entitled parenting.
Like hot wifing it's kind of a way of describing something. |

Obviously Every Parent wants to believe their child acts in a good way and behaves themselves but from time to time the little Angels let themselves and their parents down.
On the whole most parents are fairly respectful and accountable for their children's and their behaviour, however the ones that don't are just unmanageable and then it becomes exceptionally difficult to manage their children's behaviour because they know there isn't going to be any consequences. I don't necessarily think that it's entitled parenting, I think it's just lazy parenting although you always get parents that feel their child is entitled to special treatment but I don't understand really what that has to do with the stealing aspect of it that was described above. |

But I wouldn't get too stressed about stories you read on Reddit. I'm guessing the number that are true is not that high.

Or plain old theft.
Justifying or making excuses for everything by saying it is a mental health issue takes away from people with REAL mental health issues |

Here's a story I just heard on YouTube.
A girl was given a gift card for her birthday from her mum and then the next day, her gift card went missing. Apparently, her own mum took the gift card and spent it on her brother and never apologised. |

"OK having just googled this...some of the stories can't possibly be true , so many fantasists on the web but most of them seem to be on there "
I do agree that some of the stories can't be true. I have noticed a pattern with some of the excuses the parent makes for taking someone's property like their kid got good grades and that the owner doesn't deserve the item they want for example. |

After hearing more these stories on YouTube or reddit, I began to understand more on what an Entitled Parent is.
They believe that just because they have a kid, they deserve to be treated like royalty. They see their kids as little angels despite their kids being just as bad as them and if their kids want something, they'll get it for them even if it means stealing. |

It means believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment and thinking the world will revolve around them’ |

I've read stories where entitled parents are insane Westboro Baptist Church religious types as well.
One tried to kill her dying kid because a friend of her dying son got him a monster book which she deemed "satanic". |
