Keep at it OP. Let us know every day how this is going. I do love threads where we get an insight into the minutiae of the everyday lives of people I’ll never encounter

I'm guessing this is a "no refined sugar" rather than no sugar at all, right?

I'm not as thin as that, and it's not for weight loss.

Sugar is addictive you will find after a month or so you will stop craving completely. Sorry if stating the bleeding obvious but make sure not eating hidden sugar in processed foods or you will never beat it. Good luck x

"All carbs are sugar. "

True. But the layperson definition is probably at play here.

I've also had spinach, kale, and broccoli?

Depends on your health requirements, what your doctor says, etc.

Avoiding processed foods, meats and sugars as much as possible, low on refined carbs, but ensuring sufficient fresh veg and fibre, with some fruit, and a little wine and chocolate if you fancy!

The experts change their minds every week.

I'm eating 1kg of M&M's. Green ones = veg.

Isn't that how science works? People research, investigate, gather evidence, develop knowledge?

I don't have any health issues apart from hypothyroidism which requires iodine. My doctor has never mentioned my diet apart from that

They seem to don't they. I honestly don't know if I'm eating correctly according to current advice. I'm healthy that's good enough for me

Red M&Ms are equivalent to apples if you eat enough of them apparently

"Does no sugar mean no alcohol ?"

It should do. The way your body processes alcohol is by turning it into sugar in the liver.

Huh. I thought you got enough iodine in vegetables. I should check on that, thank you.

He suggested I used iodised salt and ate a lot of fish. I don't think it's an issue if you have a normal thyroid function.

Ah right. Well that's what my gp told me many years ago. I was diagnosed over 27 years ago.

I've read a lot about it. It's amazing what GPS don't know. I was also referred to a consultant after one year to confirm the diagnosis. Things could well have changed in the period between my diagnosis and yours of course.

Yep I’d concur with that

Having been low carb for 5+ years, and Kero for 2 of those, I’ve come to realise I’m very carb intolerant so I think a near-carnivore future is on the cards for me

My mum tried Keto. Her friend convinced her it would cure her of diabetes. She's stopped taking her insulin and then ended up in hospital with a clot in her leg that moved to her lung

Exactly! Keto can easily reverse diabetes in a lot of people but if you’re as far as needing insulin then you need to work with doctors to get dosages right etc.
