When skiing last week, the more serious and fitter members of the group swear by zinc supplements.
I’ve just visited a pharmacist who notices slight signs of eczema on my hands, he recommended eat more oranges and take a zinc supplement. Any thoughts / experiences? |

Any and all supplements are only any good if you happen to be deficient in what you’re taking.
As it happens, a large proportion of adult men can be deficient in zinc. So it’s something you could try. However don’t go overboard. I’ve known people spend £100’s on supplements and the only real outcome is expensive piss. |

Zinc supplements are pretty cheap, can get them from the supermarket or even Poundland lol
Magnesium and vit D are also highly involved in the production and conversation of testosterone.
However, they will only make a difference if you’re deficient.
If you decide to take them, consume away from sources of calcium, if I remember correctly the calcium stunts the absorption of zinc in the gut. |

Anything ending in ose is going to elicit an insulin response and as you know, hyperinsulaemia is something no mammal needs. I’ll carry on with my coffee with sweeteners in though, it’s the only sweet thing I have!
Can you take stevia? I think it’s vile in its processed form but I grew fresh stuff last year and it was very good. |

It tastes pretty disgusting...even staprtame has some ghastly metabolic consequences!! Date sugar seems to be about the lowest GI sugar, only 50, gonna try that. It's just the coffee and greek yoghurt that can't do without lol, though the G&T is a problem too! |

Zinc is known to support the immune system. I have hidradenitis suppurativa and take a high dose of zinc daily.
All conventional treatments don't help me but I discovered details of a medical trial online a few years ago where people were given high doses of zinc and it was found to help many. In the trial people were given a daily dose of 90mg (usual dose is 10mg). The only side effects noticed were some people became deficient in copper and needed a further supplement of this.
I currently take 60mg per day and it helps my condition massively.
Not all zinc supplements are the same though. The stuff sold in supermarkets is a different compound of zinc to the one I take. Zinc gluconate (what I take) is easier for the body to use than other compounds such as zinc citrate.
I buy mine from amazon and it works out about £1-£2 a month. |
