I watched this yesterday, think most people on it were under 30, and the majority just haven't used condoms. The one guy was a holiday rep, slept with over 150 women !
I was shocked at the ah well I'll deal with it if it happens attitude .
Is this something normal now? Why are these young people not scared of sti's ?
Do we need big campaign on social media to raise awareness of the dangers?
Or will it fall on deaf ears ? |

It saddens me that the majority of people you mentioned won't use a condom and just don't care about the consequences of not using one.
I reckon a campaign on social media or even on television about the dangers would work to some degree but probably would mostly fall om deaf ears. |

This is rather surprising as I had read that a large uptick in recorded STI's are in people over 45-50 as they've become more promiscuous and didn't have the safe sex / prevention drill hammered home while at school.
That nihilistic attitude is very worrisome |

We weren't educated where sti were concerned. We were barely educated on sex at all when we were at school. |

I think if you were sexually active in the 80's you had the fear instilled in you by the adverts and news of the time.
I think it's also worrying that all the people shown who were having risky sex with randomers regularly, didn't have any sti's, thereby maybe validating their choices.
And for people watching to come away thinking it's worth the risk.. |

Precisely why the nihilistic attitude is shocking coming from a younger generation that should know better and was provided with all the necessary information. |

Things always seemingly go well until they go pear shaped. It's the same if you live on the edge and like to push the envelope in anything you do. Odds are good that eventually something will go awry. |

When I was young I thought nothing bad would ever happen to me, it always happened to other people. I suspect that's still the case. |

I think we've all been guilty of that at some point |

Maybe they are just more honest about it? After all you get so many on here saying they always use protection and then low and behold they are seen playing bareback in a club or at a party or you are told they wanted to play without.
The reality stupid people don't think bad things will happen to them no matter what the age. |

Some people are so sensitive to adverts these days. They'll probably complain if there was an advert raising awareness of AIDS, HIV or any other STD's. |

I have been playing safe with a vanilla girl for quite a while now. The other night she said I am her safety guy. I asked what she meant. And she said every time we have sex she doesn't have to ask me to out a condom on. She said the other guys she has had sex with wanted to bareback. She even had a couple of them say they would pull out in time.
I think they are missing the point totally |

I read something similar about the over 65's , sharp rise in sti's , partner pops their clogs , they start living it up like they did in the 70's with no contraception worries so doesn't cross their minds to use condoms. |

Saw this too and was shocked also, given as others here have said the amount of education and dare say the amount of promotion that sexual health has had via social media and other methods.
In the over 40/50's age group mentioned here, it possibly is that many not using condoms are from relationships of long-term monogamous types where the risks are limited to the relationship itself. It may be those people having either separated, widowed, swinging or through being unfaithful suddenly finding themselves in an alien world where condom use has previously had almost exclusively been used for contraception and not for diease prevention and where pregnancy isn't generally the issue in the main for these age groups |

I see what you mean, there will always be that element.
Do you think people on fab are more likely to know their status and get tested regularly.. more so than someone not into swinging ? |

For me. Vanilla mate gets tested every 3 months, I haven’t been tested but will get tested in April so I am now starting to get tested every 3 months as well
I always use a condom for penatrive sex. Mainly just pussy, but have done a bit of anal over the years. For oral without but I am still deciding weather to change that rule after education.
Never play bareback not for me |
