The right place

After it won numerous awards at the Baftas including ‘best film’ at the I watched Roma last night. While it was beautifully shot and there were one or two very memorable scenes, and a couple of very strange ones, it was a bit slow and lacking in plot.

Has anyone else seen it?

Redhill

I could probably help- I studied filmmaking and I’m Mexican and in roughly the same generation as Cuaron, so his upbringing was very similar to mine. Which scenes are you talking about?

Roma is a 2018 drama film written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, who also produced, shot, and co-edited it. It is a co-production of Mexico and the United States. Set in 1970 and 1971, Roma, which is a semi-autobiographical take on Cuarón's upbringing in Mexico City, stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira and follows the life of a live-in housekeeper of a middle-class family. The title refers to the Colonia Roma district of Mexico City.
