Tinder is in trouble for evading age checks and being used for grooming youngsters.

Do you think fab should ask people to verify their age?

How is it Tinder's fault if the kid lied and shouldn't be on there in the first place.

I don't think age verification is necessary.

YES! had a meet last year after msgn, txtn and pic swops....seemed all good, went to pick him up ( maybe tht should of been a red flag) he got in the car I looked at him said how old are you really!!!! Just turned 20!!! GET OUT OF MY CARRRRRRRR.....so YES!

Whilst I agree with the principle not sure how it work in practice.

It would need everyone here to prove their ID. Then that will be stored on a server waiting to be hacked and maybe be used for sextortion.

I agree with this.

Obviously tinder, fab etc...

Have a responsibility but so do we as individuals.

Obviously on any site if somebody Suspects an underage person then it should be reported immediately but you will always get people who will look for vulnerable individuals to exploit them. I'm not sure how that is any sites responsibility.

Back in the day the solution was to make it illegal for you to lie about your age on any legally binding forms.

Do the same thing they do for piracy, if an age lie is detected, give the household an internet ban, punish the person.

In order to verify an age, companies like snapchat, tinder, facebook, the-next-big thing will want access to your childrens passports, and will then store that information for an indefinite period.

This is fucking insanity to me. The goverment wants to pass blame onto companies so they can hit them up for some cash, fine them, etc, but do you really want every site you visit keeping copies of your real private info on record?

I had a msg yesterday saying I'm not 40 as states on here but 29 well he had to send a picture to chat so he had to be honest. But it does make you wonder.. Oh and i skipped him his msg was I'll order the taxi now for you to arrive at my hotel at 2am

Age checks wont fix that, you have to think of them as "Adult check", not "verify and display the correct age".

Basically the site would only have a green mark on his profile saying "over 18", with gdpr/data protection rules the info would not be displayed, probably not even displayed to moderators of sites.

I do agree if someone lies it’s not really the sites fault - it’s not the same as someone deliberately going after a 13 year old on Facebook etc this is an over 18 site - if someone signs up as 18 or more they’ve done that not the site making them do it

An age check wouldn't stop 20 year olds from joining. You only have to verify you're over 18. I don't think they use your birth date to publish your age yet.

Because kids NEVER lie doh!!! It's not the parents responsibility to check what their children are doing, what's wrong with you?!!

And no kid ever has used his parents bank card to buy stuff online.
