It’s over priced !!

I used to say , get my flowers on the way home as they’ll be half price , it’s my birthday the same day so flowers are so expensive

I cook something nice (any excuse to do so is enough for me). Sometimes we exchange cards but that's about it. I love the oh but begrudge inflated prices. And hate "stuff" that clutters up the house.

Pointless day. If you love someone or care about them. You should show them all year round. IMHO.

I buy him some chocolate, it’s the one day he can indulge guilt free. But it’s his mother’s birthday the same day so he spends enough on flowers for her without me. I just prefer being told how he feels x

I'm quite creative so I make something personal and unique.

You see all these 'meal deals for £xx with chocolates and wine'. Just go and buy the ingredients for half the cost. Cook for him/her, says a lot more than "can't even be bothered to prepare a meal, have a microwaved chemical shitstorm instead"

Bingo!

There's nothing less romantic than doing something because you're told to. That's not romance that's duty and expectation

I opened my legs, pushed out a child 21 yrs ago on that day. Can never top that as a gift so I’ve never tried.

Our efforts have always been elsewhere on the day.

We send each other cards and I picked a present I liked in Pandora yesterday. I said I want no flowers as they triple the prices on valentines. I’ve got him some aftershave x

We don't make any special effort. If you tell each other every day that you love one another, why do you need commercial companies to make money out of you once a year.

Just a scam! fake romance for one day doesn’t cut it, it’s the day to day life that matters.

You can buy unnecessarily expensive gifts for anyone at anytime yet we all do it for chrismas or birthdays. How is valentines any different?

I like receiving thoughtful gifts and hand written cards.

I like having intimate evenings and spending time indulging in each other.

A couple of pounds on a card and small gift is nothing.

Why is it fake? Are you saying that the millions of people who buy each other cards and gifts, or go for meals and stay in hotels are pretending they love each other?

In the middle

Valentines Day was to declare your love in a secret fashion to someone you admired from afar, it wasn’t for the already betrothed, unfortunately it has lost that air of fun and surprise

I think people do the same as that all year round anyway?

Totally agree! Doesn't have to cost the earth, something thoughtful and meaningful. A little effort goes a long way x

Wade is off for a change this year... He's rock climbing with his friend never been much of a fan of the date though - romance is all year round and better when it's spontaneous.

Hubby and i do show our love for each other all year round but we also like to buy a card for each other and a small gift on Feb 14th. We also have a nice meal together. It's not pointless to us.

This exactly! I'd rather have a kiss and being told I look pretty any day of the year over a ridiculously overpriced card, dyed red flowers or chocolates on Feb 14th.
