Bored at work so figured I'd bring the subject up...

So to start, recently like a week or two ago I started a new training program and conversation with a colleague ( I'm a shift worker and a doorman) led to me removing all my social media. Didn't delete the accounts ( fab is the exepcetion) Just the apps, taking 12 weeks out to focus on training and my own mental wellbeing. Started taking 15 minutes to meditate if you will a day... Just focusing on breathing and switching off.

And I do find myself a lot happier and less stressed than before. Also a lot more productive. I reckon as humans we love distractions/escapism... But it can become too much if unbalanced.

What's your own experience and thoughts?

I not criticising social media as such, just mainly highlighting our own personal responsibility for our wellbeing and so on.

It sounds like you are doing a great job of recognising what you need to be mentally healthy. I think that reflection - does this help or hinder me is not only the starting point but it's a question many shy away from. I love social media, but I don't care how many notifications I have, followers I have or likes people give me. Its not validating me, its entertaining, amusing , informing and connecting me. I have met people who check each day how many Facebook friends they have and obsess over someone unfriending them. Social media isn't the problem, how we use and view it is.

Good luck with the meditation, it's such a good practice to add to our lives!

I dont social media/internet a lot and love it, i find the more you use it the more you are targeted to use it by clever"brain stimulants"ie, strong marketing, further suggestions to look at other stuff... Thankfully I have my dance, music, books and nature.. And I do loce my yoga
