How do you handle them?
I mean genuine meaningful compliments not the "you are gorgeous" when they have not even seen you.
Do you accept them gracefully?
Do you accept them and act quite arrogant?
Do you accept them with a thanks, but don't really agree?
Or
Do you just react as if they are completely mad to even think such a nice thing about you?
I generally fall in to the "thanks, but struggle to see how they came to that conclusion" catagory. |

In real life quickly change the subject. On here though ive had a few messages from women where we dont meet each others interests or very long distance who have jist said they wanted to compliment my pictures.
I find it a bit awkward, not because of them theyre lovely, but because i dont really know what to say.
Udualy go with thank you compliment and fab a few of thier pics and wish them the best.
But im not sure if that comes across as rude or if im meant to try and spark up a proer convo rtc |

"I smile and say thank you. I can't be doing with self deprecationin tjat situation, if someone genuinely compliments me I feel its quite rude to tell them their opinion is wrong."
Oh yes of course. Internally I'd be struggling to see how they think that. But if be greatful for the compliment. |

We quite often get messages from USA or the very far north of England or Scotland complimenting our pbotos. We thank them, return the compliment if we feel genuinely able to and leave it there. Sometimes they will respond just saying "my pleasure" and sometimes they start with the sex chat. |

"Never had one. I’ll let you know when I get my first
You're open and honest on your profile.
They go you've had one now what are you going to do.."
Punching the air in delight and jumping around my living room.
Thank you |

It depends. I quite like them and try and say thank you. Sometimes I don't quite see it but it's really nice someone else has and gone so far as to compliment me on it so I do appreciate them. |

"I never believe them, you only get compliments from people who want something."
You don't, well I don't. A woman stopped me in the street to tell me I looked lovely recently. She didn't want anything. If I do something for someone and they tell me I'm kind, I've already done the thing |

There and to the left a bit |
In person I always get a little awkward and never quite know what to say other than a blushed thank you.
On here, I usually say thanks and may make a comment along the lines of "should have gone to Specsavers" depending on my mood at the time |

I don’t see it either. Just say thanks. |

I somwtimes smile inwardly but wonder if they are real at the same time. Most of the time I turn them into something of a joke at my own expense because... |

I usually reply with "I know" aha! Sarcasm usually avoids the situations.
Although my dad used to say to me "you need to learn to love yourself before loving anyone else" |

"I'm generally very bad at taking compliments, I don't know how to react. I want to respond with one in turn but then that feels disingenuous as I'm only doing it because they did. "
My turn to agree with your post
That's exactly how I feel |

I don't think I've given it much thought until now.
My mum told me to just say thank you and that's what I told my kids.
If you compliment someone what do you expect ?
To be honest can't be doing with self deprecation following a compliment.
It makes me not want to compliment people.
So can everyone just take my mum's advice and just say "thank you" it's easy.

General consensus seems to be the same across the board.
Most people like to get them but feel uncomfortable about getting them.
I'm always polite in getting them but do feel like I'm not worthy of them at times. |

I like compliments, but only really from people I’ve gotten to know to a degree.
A compliment from a friend is met with a big grin and “n’awww thanks”, whereas a compliment from someone I don’t really know (yet or otherwise) is met with a smile and “thank you”, and I’ll fairly quickly change the subject! |

I guess it depends what the compliment is. If it's about my appearance I just say thanks but if it's about me as a person I blush and make inappropriate jokes about how awful a person I am. |

Depends who the compliment is off, on here I say thank you. But I’m real life I tend to blush and change the subject quickly, not quite seeing what they see x |

Pretty sure you, personally can. The ones that can’t are just gonna have to deal with the fact I don’t want compliments from them. Until I do. |
