Just watched Hachi - A Dog's Tale, and can't help but to cry.
On reflection, I am glad my late partner's dog accepted me as his new pack leader the moment I collected from the family whose house was near to the spot where he died.
I am certain he still remembers him, and would love to have him back as his master if he could walk through the front door now.
We both miss him dearly. Perhaps that's why I am crying buckets.

Know what you are feeling Pearl, my dog must miss her master too as she's so affectionate to male friends, I never get a look in when there's a man about. xxx |

Thanks peeps!
Feeling better and chirpy this morning.
I guess my dog knew his master had gone, as he was found clinging to his dear little life in the water, hooked up to his lead, while his master was face down in the canal, motionless and still holding his lead.
A few months later, we saw his canal boat moored up near where I live. He was very excited and wanted to go onto the boat, until I reminded him that it was just the boat, as his master had gone. He seemed to understand what I said and calmed down.
Bless him!
