Despite popular belief, curvy does NOT mean overweight. Curvy is an hour-glass figure; large breasts, hips, and butt with a comparatively small waist.

Yes it doesn’t go on the side profile of a person

I work as a plus sized model I’m marketed by my agency as an hourglass figure because it’s defined by the profile of a persons silhouette

Professionally speaking anyway

We all have our own interpretations of what it should be it’s why it promotes so much debate

A word properly used to describe women with a waist to hip ratio of about 70%. That is to say, their waist should be about 70% as wide as their hips.

There you go, the original meaning of a curvy body figure.

Regardless of what it is used for now, that is its original intended use and a very good basis as an example.

"A word properly used to describe women with a waist to hip ratio of about 70%. That is to say, their waist should be about 70% as wide as their hips.

There you go, the original meaning of a curvy body figure.

Regardless of what it is used for now, that is its original intended use and a very good basis as an example. Yeah, exactly

Which disproves your theory of up to a size 14 is curvy then Mr. Someone could be a size 32 and be curvy then. "

I don't think so. I've never seen a size 32 where their waist doesn't overspill onto their hips.

More to add

Since women generally have wide hips it's the relative narrowness of the waist that produces the appearance of curves.

"

curvy

Despite popular belief, curvy does NOT mean overweight. Curvy is an hour-glass figure; large breasts, hips, and butt with a comparatively small waist.

I get the hips and and waist thing for an hourglass figure, but why large breasts? Just larger than a slim woman I think.

Still not following, sorry. A woman with small breasts can still have an hourglass figure.

All women large or slim come in a variety of body shapes there’s slim and fat apples, slim and fat hourglasses etc (both of which are curvy body shapes to me and I don’t see hourglass being exclusive to the term curvy)

Neither do I actually. I see hourglass as the waist to hip ratio, hence why it could still apply to a slim woman.

True the boobs are actually irrelevant it’s the front/back profile of the person that defines body shape

Few know that though

Boobs are irrelevant!!! Quote of the day lol!"

Irrelevant to an hourglass figure, yes

Ok but I was massive after my second child and got up to a 20 and my waist didn’t overspill onto my hips. And you also have to take into account height. It would be impossible for me to be a size 10 and curvy and I would probably look ill. If someone 5ft weighed what I do they would be classed as very overweight/obese.

Yeah rare exceptions to the rule.

I still think being curvy or just fat can be differentiated though.

It’s not rare exceptions! It’s fact. I’m a size 14/16 and I am a bit overweight at the moment but I wouldn’t say I was fat. Someone who is 5ft at that size will look more overweight than me.

I call myself fat. I've been told by many that I'm not fat, I'm curvy. It's not just women who use the term loosely.

Which disproves your theory of up to a size 14 is curvy then Mr. Someone could be a size 32 and be curvy then. I don't think so. I've never seen a size 32 where their waist doesn't overspill onto their hips.

How would a size 32 woman ever have hips 30% bigger than her waist unless her pelvis was big enough to turn into a kayak She is Blonde remember "

. Not only sizeist but blondeist too!!
