When I was wee I watched the cartoon series The Last Airbender (such a good show, so is The Legend of Korra) and when I heard they were making it into a film I was so excited.
And as you probably know, it’s awful. Absolutely awful. I swear I cried I was so disappointed.
Oh. And the Golden Compass. Book series was wonderful. The first film was wonderful. Then there was a huge uproar and they didn’t produce anymore films?! A major let down.
What movie was a let down for you?
Did it not meet the hype? Was it the acting? |

Agree on airbender.
The last jedi
Alien prequels- Promethius and Covenant
I mean as huge let downs compared to hype, not just bad movies.
Probably quite a few more once I get to thinking. |

For me it was The Dark Tower. I have read the series multiple times over multiple years, all the time eagerly awaiting the movie. Then it came out, and I couldn't finish the film. It was an absolute stinking dog turd of a film that made no sense, and only a vague semblance to the original series. |

Likewise for The Last Airbender. The cartoon was a masterpiece; the movie was a flop.
Recently, The Predator (2018) was awful. Worst movie in the Predator franchise by far. Simply an awfully written screenplay full of generic tropes, overused quips and heavily dependant on one liners. |

"Blade Runner 2049. Tedious.
So tedious - that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!
"
Heathens, I adored that and it could have gone on for much much longer.
Really disappointed in that everyone loves.... Donnie Darko and The Big Lebowski??? |

There and to the left a bit |
Can't think of any specifics but usually if I've read the book I find the film a let down as they rarely capture the essence of the book and the actors chosen very rarely match how I imagined them.
It's the same with majorly hyped films that people have raved about before I have seen them, I'm often left disappointed, but that may be because my expectations have been raised - that said I refused to go and see Titanic because such a fuss was made over it but when I finally did see it I really enjoyed it. |

Haha I fail to see anything in Blade Runner 2049 that hasn't happened in every other sci fi film in the last 20yrs.
It was spectacularly average.
I agree with you on The Big Lebowski though.
Yawn! |

The last surrender is o my good for one thing. The drinking game. Do a shot every time someone says the word "bender". It gets funnier as the film goes on |

Hate what they did with this. It was so full of promise, was supposed to be multiple films and a mini series and then they decided to change the whole fucking thing?? Was a waste of time.
I love the books, have ready them so many times |

Was bored to death by Force Awakens and Last Jedi.
Really liked Dark Tower, thought they took 7 quite messy books and cherry picked all the right elements to make a simple, old school fantasy movie. Actually thought that's what Disney should have attempted with Star Wars and the 140 novels available instead of just rehashing the old movies. |

Agreed that the topic (what constitutes a soul and does it matter what you are) have been covered by the new Westworld and been told its in Battle Star Galactica as well as Ex Machina.
But its Blade Runner, with that world who started it all, the story, the music, the visuals, the outstanding acting with all the emotion on view!! Wonderful..
(I like it too much me thinks) |

"And I used to love the airbender cartoons
I still do, I’ll watch them if I’m ill in bed (they may be getting watched this week) "
A good few years ago I was ill and proper layed out in bed, bored. Stumbled across this little gem of a TV show, as a 27 year old man at the time, I am am not ashamed that I binge watched the whole thing during this time. |

You should watch The Legend of Korra, it’s equally as good (except they cut funding half way through which was sad) |
