Years ago I was teaching poetry to a bunch of reluctant schoolboys (I know... I know...) and one young guy was particularly obnoxious.
Then I read his work.
He had written about his girlfriend
'you are the rose petal that floats in the sea of puss that is my life'
So I stopped being miss judgypants .... lesson learned
