"Have the forums turned into people seeking advice on their profiles?"
Turned into?? 
They've always been used for that. Of course the lounge isn't the best place as there's a specific forum set up for that but it's been going on since day one.
I might go and see what the first ever thread title was later when I'm off the phone and on the laptop.....
